2. Lagos State University of Science & Technology – ₦223,144,000 for 2,766 students (22 Jan 2026)

Combined impact: 3,616 undergraduates resume lectures and labs without tuition worries this semester.

1. That's for over 5 thousand students. I doubt any other school on this list has that much Beneficiaries
2. Their tuition is pretty high hence the amount individual students will request for will be high and this will also drive up the price

How come Delta State University Abraka address was different, their letter was sent to Nirsal Building, Maitama while the others went to Monrovia Street, Wuse II? Am I the only one that noticed this? Which one is correct please?

Most tertiary institutions in the country have hiked their fees by over 150 %, putting serious strains on the finances of parents and guardians who also have to contend with the poor state of the economy which has reduced purchasing power and savings.

Checks by Vanguard Learning in public universities across the country show that the increment in obligatory fees, which started late last year is continuing, as a new session starts in some schools this January.

Only on January 6, this year, for instance, the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, Ondo State came out with a proposal to hike fees by over 100%.

This loan that is being hyped covers less than 10% of students of higher institutions
Whereas the noise is as if it's covering 90%
We had student loans in the 70s and I've not seen anything on ground to mitigate the failure of that one
Student loans has become an albatross in the US. Total loan is now at $1.8trn. Who is going to pay it back?
Most of the students are now miserable. Imagine having to pay back $39,000 out of your earnings to your past. That $39,000 could be better used for your present and future but you're busy working to offset your past.
That's in a far better country with high wages. Now imagine a country like Nigeria with low income where 80% of workers spend 80% of their income on food and other basic necessities which means they have nothing to save afterwards and now you're heaping loans on them for the future.
How exactly do you expect those people to live a fruitful and fulfilling life when they'll be bogged down by loans they took to pursue education which should be a basic human right.
The loans should be cancelled and replaced with grants and bursaries. That is when you can say people are getting the benefits of subsidy removal. Loans don't improve quality of life.

This is commendable and I'm sure opposition parties wouldn't like this bcoz what they said was that no one was given. Now, the authority of each institution is confirming the payment.

My problem with majority of you these children of nowadays, is, you always think things are really worse now. During Obasanjo, before he became president, my school fees was N250 and few years into is presidency, my fees became N25,000..... and for a 4 year programme, we ended up using 7 years - no extra year included due to repeated strike.

I guess you're glad that you won't have to pay your children's school fees as every parent should have to But they will have to start paying as soon as they get a job which means they'll spend their working years carrying your responsibilities and theirs as well since they'll be paying their kids' fees by then
Seems like robbing the children to enrich the parents
Much like what subsidy removal is
The future generation are getting fvked twice by their parents' generation
