After Ghana, and South Africa cows will be making noise that Nigeria is always being favored unfairly. Even that Ghana artist dey complain say Davido bought us Grammy nominations with money. So I ask, how many African countries can boast of the plethora of music hits naija has?

Actually, nobody can compete with anyone who has the numbers. Our biggest challenge now is poverty.

If more Nigerians could afford to go to cinemas and watch movies, that film will be hitting #10 billion by now. This is where the US has edge over most countries - numbers + money (high disposable income)

Mind you, those who watch the film in cinemas outside Nigeria are mostly Nigerians in diaspora. They use such films to stay connected to their home country.

Is it a must to over hype? N 2.1 billion in ticket sales ....$1.4 M. What was the cost of production etc? The movie did well for a Nollywood movie ...but to see it as making Nollywood on its way to becoming a global force in the industry? Approximately $190K in North America (Canada and the US) ....that s pretty much seen by Nigerians abroad ...pretty much a Nigerian movie watched by Nigerians so where is the international appeal? Let's not fool ourselves. Nollywood was wayyy bigger internationally 2000 to 2006.....went down hill after. If the movies then were played in cinemas ... a movie like "Blood Sisters" would've grossed over $50 M ...easy.. Funke was around ..but not at all popular abroad ...so was Mr Ibu. ...neither would've been in the top 20 list. But .. the bar has since been lowered significantly and she is now on top. Hopefully... she may be able to recapture true international attention.
Now with all this hype ...who here watched the movie? ...what was it about?...and was it captivating? ..out of 10 what would you rate it?

Nollywood shot into another strata ONCE it moved away from the Short-sighted Asaba monopoly.

Once it moved to SW, it became long sighted investment, creative, collaborative and DIVERSE which the Asaba cabal couldn’t foresee.

Just to be clear, she's not getting the ticket sales, the film production and distribution companies do. She's probably already sold the screenplay to the production company for a fixed fee similar to what happens in the music and book industry where the label and publisher respectively pay upfront a fixed agreed amount, and whatever sales they generate they keep.

Naturally am a story writer and i want to invest in it.
