Help!!! I think I burnt my idu yesterday. I was trying to see if it can work as an extender. The next thing I saw was smoke coming from the idu. It is currently on but I can't seem to be able to connect to the device. It is an X17M zlt

Give more details, did u use a charger not meant for it or a power bank with less power? No device will just blow up because it's used as an extender.

Few days ago, My Airtel ODU internet access stopped & I couldn't browse the internet again...the setup looks fine, still showing data connection, and subscription is still active. It's not even up to a month I bought it. Who has experienced this and how was this issue solved? This is so frustrating.

It can work as an extender and I have used it as such but you dare not put the incoming LAN cable in the LAN1 port. That one carries current and potential difference all the time because it is the PoE port. Perhaps that's what you did. I don't know level of damage it must have caused but you can probably repair it as some on this thread have done.

Meanwhile, when I used it as extender, it only connected one device and couldn't assign IP to others. Also, I couldn't access its IP. So I stopped using it.

I don’t even think this device has a warranty. The other one I helped my friend buy came with a battery issue, and when I reported it to the Airtel office where it was bought, they said they don’t do repairs and don’t even have spare batteries. My friend is still using it without battery backup.

i faced the same thing, U have been removed from the HBB portal. When u try to connect, it would be taking U to the airtel website. Try and login or call customer service.

So when they said if no subscription they will take it back, what would they do if they come around and see that the reason it's not being subscribed is because the battery is dead and they don't have spare parts? They are not serious at all.

I already see people selling the routers in black markets for mere 40k and stuff.

This is why Starlink is thriving. Small issues they will change the entire package for you, free of charge.

I don't even think 17m lasts more than 3 hours even with 2 or 3 devices connected and also takes a very long time to charge

17u is the best

When i have problems like this one ( it will connect and show sign in or it will be showing limited connection or no internet) i just reboot it and sometimes i reboot upto 3 times

Omo Starlink is 600k o with subscription fee more than double that of Airtel and without ups.

Airtel is basically free. You can easily get another one with the next month sub if you wish.

I put a Lan cable on my spectranet router and fixed the end of the lan cable in the odu port. The next thing I saw was smoke from the idu. Since then it has not been powering the odu

The only good thing about this device is that the battery life lasts very well. Otherwise, the number of times I get the image below is quite befuddling. It just keeps showing that upon several retries. The page will later open after about 15 tries. Tiring

I honestly have never experienced this. Have never experienced any website loading issues. Is there a specific website you can share its link?

that’s what I’m also considering and will do. I’ll keep that one as a backup device for rainy days.

I swear to God Starlink even allow me give out my old Gen2 as against their Policy

Come to think of it i think they will never retrieve the device even if you failed to sub for 3 months cus that's what they said with that Nokia own then and there was no retrieval i still have the device seff but that one no get power bank

5th day of max 1mbps , cant stream 480p its buffering .my subscription is less than 10 days old .MTN Fibre just went live for my Area ,guess I will port, the amount of credit ive used in calling airtel is alarming

I guess switching from esim to physical Sim was the start of my issue.Firstly my old subscription was active when I did the switch so when the sub end and I was trying to do another ,after loading airtime on the Sim card it took little less than 48hrs before they were able to activate it . I was spamming them with calls ,they first took the credit off the line without it browsing it took another 4 hrs before I got a msg the subscription its active . But the first 4 days was ,good speed blazing 50Mbps stable until few min before Arsenal vs Man u .

It's because of a poorly structured system. They should be able to retrieve it or have the owners pay for it in other ways, since they registered it with their government issued IDs.

But we all know the system can't enforce anything, so corporations are taking gambles and hoping they don't backfire.

When you contact Airtel via X dm, they'll 1st ask u to provide phone number for checks. Tell them it's not unique to your line that it's a general issue with your area. Then they'll provide you with something like this below.

After filling out the form, they will look into it and surely resolve it within 24-48hrs. No dey gree for that phone number checks 😀

It's the only way I get solutions from them and it works all the time. No stress.

I have to go order another odu like this.

Switching to physical sim is not the issue,I got my ODU first of December last year, switched to physical sim a couple of days later and it’s been blazing ever since except for a glitch I experienced this month of which I was compensated with extra seven days, and I sub directly from myairtel app without issues, I remember someone here complained about an issue similar to yours and he was using an E-SIM , so you see,

If you have another airtel sim or you know someone that uses airtel, check to see if it’s a general issue in your area or it’s only peculiar to your ODU
