Any sane politician should be afraid of primaries considering the rascality involved, where you see politicians bribing delegates just because they want to be the party flag bearer. Any politician that bribe delegates in any party primaries have no go intentions for Nigeria simple. I hope this sink into your brain

On a serious note, in most countries of the world, it is almost impossible to win a presidential election if you are not from any of the 'big' parties, especially countries with large populations. As popular as Trump is, he dare not contest election as an independent candidate (he would lose woefully) so he still had to bully and buy his way into becoming the GOP candidate.

Another fun fact, you cannot win the primaries of any big political party anywhere in the world without spending money, I mean huge money. If you hear the billions Elon Musk and the like spent on Trump's candidacy you go wan faint. You call it bribe there they call it lobbying here.

Bottom line, you want to be the president of a big country, you need a big political party with national spread to achieve that. And to be the flag bearer of that big political party you need to spend good money. Anything outside that, you only have 1 or 2% chance of realizing your dream .

In Africa (Nigeria as a case study) the President brazenly award bogus, padded, nonexistent contracts like this Tinubu government is doing to recoup their money. Some daredevils print money out-rightly like Buhari government did, Some sell government properties to themselves at a token and turn around to be using it to make profit on the citizens like Atiku did. Some use government money to do business, fixed the money to yield more than 100% profit for them while starving the citizens of the infrastructure and development needed like Peter Obi did.

Bottom line, the kind of "perfect" politician you are looking for will never be able to get to the position of even climbing the political ladder not to talk of being selected to contest primaries. That 'perfect' politician can even be you, but can you get to that position? or tell me where they expect you to get 30 million Naira to purchase form for ordinary local government chairman.

In other parts of the world like USA same, same if not worse. The only difference is that they have institutions in place to checkmate brazen stealing (but they still do 'codedly'). But because of the working institutions even if you will steal it can't be in excess and also certain things to better the lives of the masses you don't have control over you just have to do them.

I hope with this my submission I have been able to convince you and not confuse you that ALL politicians in Nigeria are the same. The words 'Saint' and 'Politician' are mutually exclusive.
