The Niger State Police Command has arrested a nursing student in connection with the death of a university lecturer in Minna.

The incident occurred on January 27, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m., when Engr. Dr. Otori Abdulfatai Aiyede of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, reportedly visited a student, Stella Joseph, at her residence in Tunga, Minna. Aiyede had gone to introduce himself as a newly appointed lecturer at Newgate University.

According to reports, the student served the lecturer a meal of spaghetti and egg during the visit. Shortly after eating, the lecturer allegedly began convulsing and collapsed.

you could’ve posted the whole story instead of redirecting us. Let’s wait for the details. There are a lot of questions to ask. Had they known each other personally before her visit? Why would she want to kill her? Was she sent by another person to do the killing?... lotta questions to ask.

Police operatives from the Tudun-Wada Division were immediately dispatched to the scene. The victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Minna, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. His body has since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary pending an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The nursing student has been taken into police custody as investigations continue to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have assured the public that further details will be made available as the investigation progresses.

Lol, I wasn't there but that's definitely not what happened. How can a whole lecturer go to a student's house to introduce himself as a new school lecturer? That is only possible if they knew each other before or are related. Or if he planned to visit each and every student in the school for one on one introduction

This must be the new practice for a lecturer to go to a student's apartment in order to introduce himself....when you need a reason why Nigeria may never be good look no further because we know how to twist narratives around incidents; especially our law enforcement and judiciary. Why not just say it as it, "he died in active service ", rather than twisting the story
