It is difficult to overstate the mess Mr Tinubu inherited. When he took office in 2023, the country’s central bank had $7bn (equivalent to 1.4% of gdp at the time) in obligations it could not meet, prompting international investors to flee en masse. The bank’s credibility had been dented by a recklessly loose monetary policy, its mismanagement of dwindling foreign-exchange reserves and efforts to maintain an unsustainable tiered exchange-rate system. In 2022 alone the cash-strapped government spent some $10bn, equivalent to 2.2% of GDP, on a ruinous fuel subsidy. These Tinubu’s supporters are shameless. Na the same una worship Buhari then, now una dey talk say tinubu inherited messed u0 country from the god una worship. Elusive001:You life is far more difficult. I can only laugh at your futile attempt as spinning this as negative for Tinubu. He met a battered economy and he put it on the path of recovery and strength. This is what The Economist is saying regardless of how much you try to twist it. |

wman:The derailing started immediately OBJ left office. OBJ's reforms were not sustained because of those that took over from him and the fact that his reforms dealt with the surface and not the root. PBAT's reforms is dealing with the root that's why the pains are more but it will solve the structural problems. |
