Adc's Dirty Secret: How Atiku's Camp Is Setting Peter Obi Up To Fail Before 2027 by avalancheMedia(op): 5:06pm On Jan 30
Peter Obi has campaigned twice for ADC's AMAC candidate Moses Paul. Massive crowds showed up. But Atiku Abubakar and other ADC leaders? Nowhere to be found. Their silence isn't coincidence—it's a message. The cracks in this so-called coalition are deeper than anyone wants to admit.

The silence is deafening. And it tells you everything about what's really happening inside the ADC.

Peter Obi has shown up in AMAC twice to campaign for Moses Paul, the ADC candidate in the upcoming local council election. Massive crowds turned out. The energy was electric.

And where is Atiku Abubakar? Where is Tambuwal? Rotimi Amaechi? Bala Mohammed?

Nowhere.

Not at the rallies. Not on social media. Not even a simple goodwill message. Their supporters? Completely silent. It's as if the AMAC election doesn't exist in their political world.

This isn't coincidence. This is a message.

A Coalition That Exists Only On Paper

The ADC has positioned itself as the mega-opposition vehicle to unseat Tinubu in 2027. Sounds great on paper.

But here's the reality nobody wants to admit: the ADC isn't a coalition. It's a collection of competing ambitions pretending to be united.

There's the Atiku camp nursing wounds from 2023. There's the Obidient movement believing their man deserves the top slot. And between them? Suspicion, resentment, and silent warfare.

What holds them together? Not shared vision. Just a common enemy in Tinubu.

That's not enough to win anything.

The Moses Paul Test

Moses Paul isn't just any candidate. He's a committed Obidient who worked with Peter Obi during 2023. He helped build the movement from scratch.

So his candidacy became an accidental test for the ADC. Would the coalition rally behind him?

The answer has been devastating.

Obi showed up twice. The crowds came out. But from Atiku's wing? Nothing. No endorsements. No campaign visits. No social media support. Their influencers have treated this election like it doesn't exist.

This same thing happened during the Anambra bye-election. Obi campaigned alone while ADC leaders stayed home.

Once is coincidence. Twice is a pattern. This is deliberate.

The Atiku Calculation

Here's what Atiku's camp won't say publicly but their actions are screaming: they don't want Peter Obi to win anything.

Think about it. If Moses Paul wins with Obi's support, it strengthens the narrative that Obi can deliver victories. It makes him harder to stop in the presidential primaries.

But if Moses Paul loses? That's ammunition.

Suddenly it becomes: "Obi can't even win a local government election." It becomes leverage to pressure him into accepting a VP slot under Atiku.

So they sit on the fence. They watch. They wait. They're not actively sabotaging—they're just not helping. If it fails, they benefit. If it succeeds, they'll still claim credit as part of the "coalition."

Brilliant. Cynical. And ultimately self-destructive.

The VP Box They're Building

Let's address the elephant in the room. There's a coordinated effort to box Peter Obi into accepting VP under Atiku.

You see it in the whisper campaigns about Obi being "regional." The suggestions that he should "wait his turn." The framing that only Atiku has "pan-Nigerian appeal."

The AMAC election fits perfectly into this playbook. If Moses Paul loses despite Obi's efforts, watch the narrative shift: "Obidients are loud but can't vote." "We need someone who can win outside social media."

The goal isn't building a winning coalition. The goal is manoeuvring Atiku back onto the ballot with Obi neutralised.

What Happens If Obi Wins The Ticket?

Based on everything we're seeing, does anyone believe Atiku will genuinely support Obi if he emerges as ADC candidate?

You'll get the public endorsement. The photo-op. The carefully worded statement.

Then you'll get the private sabotage. Lukewarm mobilisation. Whisper campaigns. Strategic silence when it matters most.

We've seen this movie before in Nigerian politics. The losing faction pays lip service while quietly ensuring the nominee fails so they can say "I told you so" next time.

The 2027 Reality

Tinubu is vulnerable. His economic policies have caused hardship. On paper, the opposition should win.

But winning requires real unity. Not press-release unity.

If the Atiku faction won't show up for a local council election, how will they show up for a presidential campaign where their man isn't the candidate?

The cracks visible in AMAC won't heal on their own. They'll widen. And if the ADC doesn't address them honestly, they'll hand Tinubu a victory he doesn't deserve.

The Bottom Line

Peter Obi is in AMAC doing the work. Atiku and the ADC establishment are doing calculations.

One approach builds movements. The other preserves egos.

Moses Paul deserves better than a party treating his election as a chess piece. Nigerians deserve better than an opposition that can't get out of its own way.

The question isn't whether Peter Obi can mobilise support. He's proving he can. The question is whether his so-called coalition partners actually want him to succeed.

Their absence from AMAC has already answered that question.

You said Paul is an Obidient, you said he helped in starting up the movement.
You said he worked for Peter during the 2023 elections.

Yet you are the same person saying the other things.

Peter knows the young man and Peter went to campaign for the young man.

Did this Paul of a boy approach Atiku and the others?

Did Obi take this boy to present to Atiku and co as it should be?
Or you think Atiku and co will just see people carrying ADC flag and start running over there?

Let me ask you.
Why has Peter not campaigned for other candidates of ADC in other states aside this boy who you said was one of Peters boys?

Would Peter have go for his campaign if Peter didn't know the boy?

I don't think many of you know what the brain should be used for.

Nobody is setting Peter Obi up. This is another silly excuse from Peter Obi's camp to decamp again. After all, Atiku was on his own in ADC when the agulu perennial loser left his LP to cause division in ADC as is usual of him.
