There should be a small text or icon or something that tells everyone the post isn't original and have been edited.

Most of us care for something like that, incase someone types rubbish then later edits it.

Especially on the front page

I added a star next to the creation date for such posts. I didn't want to devote a new line just to show the editing. Your way may be better.
