The Founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, Dr Chris Okafor, has called on the Federal Government to strengthen regulation of Nigeria’s cyberspace, warning that unregulated online content is increasingly being used to damage the reputations of innocent citizens.

Okafor spoke in Lagos on Thursday while reacting to allegations made against him by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, which he described as false, malicious and driven by misinformation amplified on social media. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The controversy began in November 2025 after news emerged that Pastor Okafor was set to remarry. Following the development, Ogala accused the cleric of having a long-term relationship with her and allegedly reneging on a promise to marry her.

She further made serious allegations, including claims linking the pastor to the death of her brother and other criminal acts. The accusations gained widespread traction online, with several bloggers and influencers amplifying the claims.

Addressing journalists at a news conference, Okafor denied all the allegations and described them as baseless fabrications, insisting that he had never met the actress before the controversy.

He lamented what he described as cyberbullying and trial by social media, accusing some bloggers and influencers of prioritising traffic and engagement over truth and verification.

“All these started after my intention to remarry was leaked by our wedding planner. From there, all hell broke loose and everyone tried to cash in on it,” Okafor said.

He alleged that many online platforms published damaging claims without seeking his side of the story or demanding evidence from the accuser.

The cleric urged authorities, particularly cybercrime units, to intensify efforts at tracking online offences and holding offenders accountable.

“Many Nigerians have suffered and are still suffering from lies spread online. Most times, those responsible walk free after destroying people’s images,” he said.

He questioned what he described as inconsistencies in the allegations, stating that the same person accusing him of murder was also claiming emotional betrayal.

“How could someone say I killed her brother and still claim I wanted to marry her? There are many unanswered questions,” he added.

Okafor also addressed allegations involving his former wife, describing them as recycled claims that were never raised during their divorce proceedings in 2014 at an Ikeja court.

According to him, the marriage was dissolved on grounds of irreconcilable differences, including infidelity and lack of affection, and he was granted custody of the children.

He said no allegation of abuse was presented during the court process.

The pastor expressed concern over the broader implications of unchecked online allegations.

“If as a pastor I can survive these lies, what happens to the average Nigerian with no platform or voice?” he asked.

Okafor reassured members of his church and the public that the truth would eventually emerge, insisting that he had never been arrested or convicted of any crime.

“In my 55 years on earth, I have never been arrested for any offence. It is sad how far people can go to destroy another person,” he said.

It's interesting how all these men accused have the same look. They all have the same kind of face, age, hairstyle, beards, dress sense and accusation. They represent something. The only difference between this one and the rest is that he came out to apologize. But he's not going to stop.

Yes they always seem to have some diehard followers regardless of how evil their works are when exposed. It seems a human thing though as even the pharisees appeared to command huge following in the days of Jesus, despite not having power to do miracles and never faking them as some of these ones do.

As for the similar looks, you have a point especially with this one and the coza guy, their hairstyles may have something to do with it though.

It happened in the past and God has forgiven him.

Why then should we continue to judge him for a sin he committed in the past and God has forgiven?

That's why Jesus said we should not judge or we will be judged.

I follow his ministry online and I have been blessed but salvation is personal.

No one is judging him ofcourse it is his personal life, he is entitled to do whatever he want as an adult, even if he want to be sleeping around with women.

But people should stop deceiving themselves to think that pastors are filled with the holy spirit than anyone else, I don't know what they are doing in their churches.
Constantly listening to people like these make yourself vulnerable to them. At the end they will exploit you.
