Fifty years is a lifetime in political memory, yet some legacies refuse to fade into the comfortable blur of history. As Ogun State prepares to mark her golden jubilee in February 2026, the occasion demands more than ceremonial celebration, it calls for an honest reckoning with the forces and figures that have shaped the state's trajectory. Without mincing words, few administrations have left footprints as indelible as that of Otunba Gbenga Daniel in Ogun State.Source: https://applesbite.com/ogun-at-50-how-gbenga-daniel-built-the-gateway-to-nigerias-industrial-future/

Sorry to say, but the truth is often bitter... Ogun State ought to be far better than it is, considering its immense wealth and the presence of numerous companies and industries in the state. A lot of people that can't find spaces in Lagos settle for it. In terms of development, Unfortunately, the reality tells a different story. It remains deeply underdeveloped, burdened by consistently ineffective governance. The road infrastructure is among the worst in the country-arguably the worst. Were it not for its proximity to Lagos State and Ibadan, Ogun would likely be in an even more dire state- possibly worse than Kogi, Niger, Benue etc. |

Nigeria! Nigeria!! Nigeria!!!. A land so blessed, but filled with wicked and corrupt individuals. Individuals that are so avaricious and self-centered, that you wonder if they are humans at all. My wailing is not about Ogun State because I am not from there and doesn't know much about the state except what I read online. So I will leave Ogun people to rate their past leaders. |

LabStores:So much is expected from Ogun state but it's revenue can not match its need. Worse, the state is spread out wide. It's industrial base is close to lagos state. But most of the state is far from Lagos. Ijebu-Ode, Ijebu Igbo and many other towns are far from Lagos. I feel Ogun state could have achieved double what it presently has if monies were spent more judiciously (over inflated contracts), and on leveraging it's proximity to Lagos. Why can't Ijebu-Ode be ICT hub. The government t could provide affordable broadband Internet in a Sci park that would welcome investments. Otunba Daniels brought in a Chinese investor who was in partnership to build a free trade zone but the APC governor who came in after him cancelled the contract abruptly, most likely because it was from a rival party. I am sure the whole thing was legit as Pat Utomi was involved. The furious Chinese company took Ogun state to court and won. It has been trying hard to recover their $70m. |

Gbenga Daniel and most of the governors of Ogun state should be ashamed of themselves. With the revenue generated the state is still in a terrible shape. |

Oisagbai78:What of government services and public utilities? Is Ogun State doing better than its neighbouring states of Oyo, Lagos and Ondo? Did Gbenga Daniel employ more than 19,500 teachers or less in his eight years as governor? This is the number that PDP’s Makinde employed in five years even though he doesn’t call himself progressive. What of water supply? Did Gbenga Daniel employ workers to make it available to all households? Abi he left Ogun State people to suffer with detty, shithole, kwashiorkor water like his friend Tinubu is doing in smelly Lagos of his lootocracy TAX master plan ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5v-F81hNTs |

I am ashame that this present Governor is from Ijebu where I also come from. In fact , all the past governors are failures. Ogun State that is very close to Lagos. It borders Lagos State more than any other states yet it is not tapping from Lagos State economics benefits. |
