Indeed, the venom did spread. What she could have done, knowing well that naija hospitals, most of them, are a waste of space, is to cut open the place she was bitten, and let the blood flow out, before seeking medical attention.
Hezzyluv:
But, report has it that she went to more then one hospital and no antiVenom.

Within going from home, one hospital to another, the venom could have spread.

Let's understand this. UK is a temperate country locating in the temperate region and temperate snakes are nonvenomous; meaning that there are not poisonous. Nigeria is a tropical country locating in the tropics. Biogeographically, equatorial region is a home to most deadliest species of animals (reptiles inclusive). In UK, out of 50 snakes, the chance of seeing one that is poisonous in the midst of them is less than 1. Comparing snake bites in UK and Nigeria is a bias argument that lacks credibility.Netizens are not fools. We came from different field of studies. Stop blaming the government. Fumigate your environment and stay safe. May her soul rest in peace.
For the fact that we have more venomous snakes is the same reason we should have more centres with anti-snake venom. It is a failure of this society, especially the leaders.

By the way, venomous creatures are entirely different from poisonous creatures. Venomous means you get harmed from their bites while poisonous means you get harmed from eating them. Many snakes are venomous but never poisonous.

That is black mamba.
A deadly, fierce and very bold snake that hates to be cornered.

I've had nearly fatal close touches with those monsters twice.

First time in 1991 at Ijesha express Lagos.
I used to do some modest 'Akuro' farming in the swamp area
I cleared the bush waiting for it to dry for morning. I was turning the grass when a small one bursted out timing. I gave a chase while looking for a weapon to use.
As she got close to another hip of grass, she suddenly turned 180 degrees and chased me. It was so abrupt I almost ran into it.
We repeated this cycle 2 times back and forth before I managed to kill it with a stick.
It was a close call.

The 2nd one was a far closer call somewhere in Ikorodu area.
It was my new site by swampy forest.
I built a 2-floor cage for my chickens.
A fowl on eggs was attacked by a very big black cobra about 5 feet long. The fowl's cry
drew my attention to the cage. She was writhing in pains on the ground. I looked into the cage, saw the eggs but no snake not knowing that the bastard had disappeared under the cage. While I was clearing falling leaves from the top of the cage, she came up to swallow the eggs and saw me. I didn't know nothing !
Well, she saw me as a rival and decided to deal with me first. And my left side of my ribcage was facing her
There's a deadly, focused and determined posture they normally adopt just before the kill. At that very second, perhaps by some divine instinct, I looked inside as she made tostrike ! I shouted and jumped back at the same time. I fell backwards. I think it was my shout that stopped her in the track. I was just saved by the whiskers.
She escaped but I set a trap for her with one of the eggs with a fish hook.
She came back the 3rd day and got trapped. By some funny hunch, I decided to repeat the trap. The 3rd day around noon, I heard a struggling moaning sound. Getting there I saw another one of exactly the same size
It was the female.

Private hospitals in Nigeria are business centers. All they treat is Malaria and force pregnant women to do CS so tbey can make good money. Everything in naija is just corrupt.
First of all, forcing C/S accusation is baseless.
The more vagina deliveries you have, the more patients you have, the more money you make.

Secondly, the problem with every single establishment is primarily from the government. Investigate how much people register and renew license of hospitals. Payments of multiple bills to the government. This makes affordability difficult on the side of the common men.

If you don't want to see things like this happen again, be better yourself. Vote the right leaders into office. In your own small office, make sure you constantly do the right thing without corruption or nepotism.

How? A witch turned into the snake we just saw?
People fumigate their homes for reasons like these bro. If it's not a snake, it could have been a scorpion or anything else. Nothing spiritual about this.

Why is remedy for snake bites and general first aid not taught in all schools.

Instead they teach children pointless religious studies, and some other useless and sometimes misleading subjects.

What are you even trying to preach now?
That because we have venomous/poisonous snakes in Nigeria that that is why Nigeria government cannot buy anti-venom in all the hospitals she visited?
Even the UK you said has non-poisonous species of snakes still have anti-venom in their hospitals. Then how much more Nigeria that has poisonous ones, shouldn't that have made us to have the anti-venom in all our hopitals ?
A whole human being lost her life because of poor healthcare system, and you said the citizens shouldn't blame government for running unequipped hospitals?
Wonders,they said,shall never end!

You started well yet ended up saying thrash. Why won’t the government be blamed? A hospital for that matter cannot administer the right treatment to resuscitate a snake bite patient. I am very sure if it’s your family that is involved, you won’t type the beautiful nonsense you put up here.

When did the dog bite your daughter?
Was it rabies infected dog?

I'm asking because rabies incubation time could be as long as 10 months.

Once there's symptoms, is already too late.

InfoGuru118:

Ifunanya Nwangene, a 25-year-old Abuja-based classical, jazz, RnB, and soul singer, popularly known by her stage name Nanyah, has reportedly passed away after suffering a snake bite at her residence in the early hours of the morning.

Very Nigerian gathered that the incident occurred at her home in Abuja when a snake attacked her, inflicting a bite that later proved fatal.

According to information gathered, Nanyah reportedly made frantic efforts to save her life after the incident, rushing herself to two different hospitals for urgent medical attention.

However, she was said to have been turned away or left untreated due to the unavailability of anti-venom at the facilities she visited.

Report indicate that she did everything she could to survive. She went to more than one hospital, but there was no anti-venom.

When a snake bites you, you have very limited time to take actions before it becomes fatal. In some cases, as little as 30 minutes.
You can read clearly that they said she took herself to two different hospitals. Where else do you expect her to go in a city like that? She should start looking for a babalawo?

It's not about her relying on anything or making a choice. You people should be sensitive with what you type...
I just shake my head in pity when I read some takes on the internet , it’s amusing honestly.

He was expecting the snake bite victim to go actually go around looking for a herbal doctor for some concoction to take to neutralize the effect of the venom ?!

1.In this case the hospital did have antivenom.

2.Cobra venom is the kind of venom that is neurotoxic and heart toxic. Even if the right thing was done, it can kill her.

3. And please when someone is bitten by any animal, take them to hospital for even just tetanus vaccine.

Nigerian hospitals are just useless, both Doctors and nurses. if she was in a saner clime and a poisonous snake bite her she would have been alive by now.
While most snake bite victims do survive in 'saner climes'...

1.In Australia, one to four people die from snakebites

2.In the USA...it is five to ten people

3.Cobra bites, once the venom spread, can be rapidly fatal, even if 'everything is done right'.

dumbest quote of the century.

All of Europe are more keen and invested in anti snake venom in a place, according to you, they has less venomous snakes than sub Sahara Africa that has one of the worst snake mortality rate in the world.

I don't know why you people who sold assets and family property to travel abroad for survival believe you can lecture anyone on reality.

Sub Sahara Africa still rely on anti snake venom from Europe that don't suffer same fate and you're here saying the government shouldn't be blamed.

So what's missing here, what's the lesson?
In an event that snake or any form of reptile plus dog bites, immediately look for a rope and tie very well the next joint after the area that was bitten, this will prevent blood flow from that area to the heart and start seeking medical care.
Good luck
Snake venom travells through the lymphatic system, not just blood vessels. Tying the limb may not be helpful, and could even cause more problems.

Abuja is a growing city. Even now, there is a lot of construction in areas that were once heavily wooded and had no human habitation...and as such we are entering the domain of a lot of wild animals...including snakes.

That';s why. In cities where you don't see snakes, the issue is the city has been there for a long time, that any snakes would have long sinc eleft the area. Snakes, notoriously, try to keep away from humans.
