Lies! Why did they untie the tourniquet that had preserved her life before administering the so-called anti-venom shot? Besides, the very first thing they did to her was to administer drip after losing the tourniquet telling her to relax as if they knew what they were doing. She had been on a call with her brother all through the steps she took to save her life. It was only when they administered that drip that did nothing to counter the toxins now spreading in her body after taking the tourniquet that she died. The hospital is culpapble for negligence. They should have applied the efforts expected of their profession to save the girl. The first hospital that rejected her should be closed down for being useless. Anti-venom medicine should not be a scarce commodity in our today's world. Nigeria is still breathing the air of the 1800's. |

Berankis:You mean you don't know why they are always angry or rude? How will someone who work in a harsh or unfriendly environment be happy? Right from day one of training to when they start working, the Nigerian health practitioners are exposed to harsh or unfriendly environment. |

I've actually taken a victim of snake bite from Finance Bridge Abuja to Wuse General Hospital, the problem was I had no money on me, and they demanded deposit before treatment due to the cost of the drug This is a woman I don't know. She stepped down from a commercial vehicle and entered the small bush opposite Ministry of Finance to urinate. I had to leave her there and flee. |

Government faculties and agencies must surely say something to save their face. This is Nigeria for you. Have you ever seen them admit of wrong doing in Nigeria. Many people have lost their lives in government hospitals due to dilly dallying approach. Yet we read countless stories of people losing their loved ones |

TOPMAN4LIFE:One thing also, how did her immediate responders deal with the situation? Did they start shouting and running? Praying and casting? Did they administer first aid as appropriate for snake bite? You know how people behave when incidences occur... Need to find out before we tackle hospital crew... |

TOPMAN4LIFE:check about venomous snake on Google.I had watch documentaries too. That aside , my brother we are in Nigeria and most people opening a hospital are there for business.this antivenom are very expensive.the cheapest that was 5-10k before the government policies that drove prices of things crazy.its now 40/50k I learnt and the expensive ones that is specifically made for a specie of snake and very potent use to be 40/50k , now going for 150/200k.i don't think any private hospital or even pharmaceutical outlet will easily keep it in there drug store/stock because most of the times they don't get to use it and at the end of the day, it will be a loss to them.some of them need to be in fridge because as hot weather will affect their potency. I have asked a drug seller why and the answer he gave me wasn't a good one but since he is a business man, I had to just take the excuse he gave.he said they only stock drugs they will sell immediately and make gains from and then go back to get another purchase.they wouldn't want to stock a drug that would stay for long when they could have easily invest the capital and another drug. They should have taken her to a teaching hospital or tertiary hospital immediately. that is the place they can easily get anti snake venom because teaching hospitals are govt owned and in most case don't have the mindset like the business guys.Even sometimes they still don't get to have too.our problem for Nigeria plenty Sha. Angelfrost:In the Anthony Joshua's case the two victims were already dead at impact. No amount of emergency rescue services could save them. And as for Anthony Joshua, he was also immediately attended to, but not at the speed of the Western rescue system. But expecting that to happen in Nigeria for any foreseeable future is an hallucination. |

nairalanda1:You will always find excuses to justify your oppressors. From tax to medical to governance, your oppressors are always excusable. Is that a good mindset not to place blames where they actually belong to the detriment of the masses? |

Berankis:Government neglected the health sector. Those health workers are working like slaves. Imagine all government hospitals has been working skeletal for 3 months now because of JOHESU strike and the government still refuse to honour their demand an agreement of 12 years ago. Just imagine no salary review for the past 12 years and compare it with inflation today. When learned about their demand and reason for the strike I honestly support them. The government is our problem not the health workers |

Dogalmighty17:Well, they said they administered a polyvalent antivenom. That's meant to work for all snakes, right? |
| Re: FMC Abuja Reacts To Death Of Ifunanya Nwangene by Chibuezem(m): 8:35am On Feb 02 |
Berankis:The system is broken because government has decided that the reward of health workers is in heaven not in Nigeria from substandard health infrastructure, scarcity of essential Drugs to poor renumeration of healthcare workers Nigerian government has tunred hospitals to mortuaries and it will continue because the average Nigerian hates going to the hospital talk more of even liking healthcare workers |

| Re: FMC Abuja Reacts To Death Of Ifunanya Nwangene by Iseddy: 8:47am On Feb 02 |
Dogalmighty17:stop displaying your ignorance. CPR is not to treat the snake bite or fight against venom. Is probably the patient was unconscious, Not breathing or only gasping, No pulse. That was why CPR was administered. polyvalent antivenom was said to have been administered which is meant to fight any snake venom since they didn't know what type of snake bite her. |
