One would think this spat is for them to have more resources to better the lives of their citizens.

Instead, its for them to have more money to loot.

Ondo state is not the owner of the village. Ogun State owned the primary school in the village and Ogun State INEC has been conducting election in the area. Ondo state has no claim. Atijere is in ondo state and it's not near eba village in Ogun State.
Did you look at the map? Take a proper look at the map and think again.

Anyway, the Surveyor General's records and history will determine the true owners

Judging by the map i will say the land is closer to Ondo than Ogun and Ondo has every right to claim it.

The island is closer to Ondo by land.
Ondo should have it.
Things don't work that way my dear. The community is under Ogun state as defined by the boundaries commission, whether it is close to Ondo or not.

Go and look at the map of USA and see the location of Alaska and Hawaii.

If it will bring war, let it. The only resolution is that it belongs to Ondo State.

it obviously belongs to Ondo, the other lazy non performing governor is just looking for extra free money, as a matter of fact two of them are under-performing.

Ok
Do you have evidence that it belongs to ondo like who are the people occupying the Island?
Do they claim Ondo State?
Re: Eba Island: Ogun And Ondo Battle Over Ownership Of Oil Rich Island by mencer(m): 1:18pm On Feb 02
The state with visible government presence in the area will most likely win
The state that runs the schools health facilities etc..
A big lesson for governments not to abandon their responsibilities...that neglected village may be sitting on gold...
Re: Eba Island: Ogun And Ondo Battle Over Ownership Of Oil Rich Island by Elliotwaveforec: 1:18pm On Feb 02
Ijebus should have the oil joor, Ilajes have oil in abundance already! Also, the Ilajes are too close to the Ijaws, and they can claim ownership in the nearest future. The oil wells belonging to the Ijebus favours the Yorubas more.

The Ilajes. Read the Ondo Govt response. Unfortunately for Mr Dapo Abiodun the Ondo State governor is from that region....

No oil in Yoruba land, maybe Palm oil
No be by cho-cho-cho; na to bring results! The combined oil output of Imo, Abia and Anambra States is only half of Ondo State’s oil output alone.

1) Akwa Ibom: Produces 504,000 barrels per day, accounting for nearly a quarter of Nigeria's total oil output. The state has major offshore oil fields operated by ExxonMobil and TotalEnergies.

-2) Delta: Produces 346,000 barrels per day, with significant oil reserves and key industry players like Shell and Chevron.

3) Rivers: Produces 344,000 barrels per day, with a strong focus on oil exploration and refining. The state houses several refineries and oil servicing companies.

4) Bayelsa: Produces 290,000 barrels per day, with oil production mainly from deepwater fields like Bonga and Egina, operated by Shell and TotalEnergies.

5) Ondo: Produces 60,000 barrels per day, with offshore oil fields in the Ilaje area operated by Chevron and local companies.

6) Lagos: Produces 40,000 barrels per day, with the Aje Field offshore being a significant contributor.

7) Edo: Produces 33,000 barrels per day, with onshore oil fields in Oredo and offshore prospects.

cool Imo: Produces 17,000 barrels per day, with oil deposits in the Oguta and Egbema areas.

9) Abia: Produces 11,000 barrels per day, with oil production mainly from the Ukwa West fields.

All I want to know is when Ogunstate and Ondo state swapped geographical locations. All my life ogun has always been west of Ondo state.

I think Ogun state should back off💁‍♂️

It’s Eba Island oooo, not Iyan or Pupuru Island. Ogun is known for Eba, Ondo is known for Iyan and Pupuru 😅😅

Ogun is claiming it but didn't present the evidence. Ondo is also claiming it by presenting the map.... Let federal government intervene. Involving federal ministry of land and whatever ministry to be consulted

The person who drew the map at Sahara reporter obviously does not not know how to read map or it was flipped by them. Based on satellite imageries from Google, the so called Eba Island is in Ogun State

Why is Eba Island forest reserve in Ondo state but Eba Island with natural gas in Ogun State? This people think Obasanjo is the president, this is not the same thing as stealing Lagos state land make Ogun no kill Dapo.

Alaska and Hawaii are different scenarios. They're both far from the US, though both states are US territory. Alaska used to be Russian territory before the US acquired it from them

The national boundaries commission should wade into this matter and give the land to Ondo. The island is even closer to Ondo than it is to Ogun.Look at the map very closely.

Co-ask.
If Ondo state should let go that land, the people of Ogun state, well known to be landgrabbers, will surely come back to claim more of Ondo lands.

If it will cause war, so be it.

All land-grabbers should just back off.

How come the majority of the people in the island are Ilajes since recorded history, but the land belong to Ogun?

Make it make sense.

Dubious and devilish landgrabbers.
