This is what whits call a Nigerian response...

Nigerians are always so rude. It is their way and they cannot change.

If you feel that man is wrong why not correct him politely and move on. How hard is that?

WE saw how he transformed anambra state, when he was a governor. We saw how Ndi anambra people were praising him.

Obi and competent should not be in the same sentence.

While I did not support Onanuga's use of language (even though, those miscreants destroying national assets need to be seriously dealt with - like that chinaza who burned BRT buses in Lasgidi is cooling off in prison), he is grammatically correct. Phrank Shuabu was just trying to grandstand to impress lambanus lienus fans.

Standard Phrases
1. Shoot on sight: This means to shoot someone without warning when they are seen.
2. Shoot at sight: This is similar, implying shooting when the target comes into view.

shoot on sight or shoot at sight.
Which is correct?

"Shoot on sight" is considered the standard, idiomatic phrase in English, meaning to shoot a target immediately upon seeing it. While some debate its accuracy, "shoot at sight" is sometimes used interchangeably in political or regional contexts, though it is often considered less grammatically precise than the standard idiom.
Key details:
Definition: Both phrases refer to an order given to security forces to shoot someone immediately upon spotting them.
Usage: "Shoot on sight" is the widely recognized idiom in dictionaries and historical contexts.
Context: These orders are typically associated with extreme security measures or, as argued by some, "extrajudicial killing".
The phrase is widely used in contexts demanding immediate action against perceived threats.

Coming from 'A Nation' and coming from 'the same Nation' mean differently.
Though depends on the contextual origin and part of speech which the originator wishes to invoke.
However, logically and grammatically, saying that 'u came from a nation' means that u are an ambassador of that nation and so should be identified with and also represent that Nation.
However, saying that u came from 'same nation' means ur behaviours depicts that of a known Nation and prefixing 'black' to the phrase shows how a negative message the user wishes to pass.

The black birds (thieves, bandits) came from same country.
The black birds (thieves, bandits) came from a country.....they are not spirits.

The Nigerian political space is full of people who can't add significant or reasonable value to government and administration of the country.

You can imagine a situation where Special Assistants and Spokesman are now making grammar a subject of argument.

How does that benefit or improve our politics, government and life.

If you want to be grammatically correct, maybe you should be lecturing in an institution of education or find another profession.

In the political space, we need people that can facilitate discuss, gatherings, decisions and conscious efforts to improve, better and transform our democracy, administration, government and lives ultimately.

We don't need people that just want to argue, pick a fight and create unnecessary public drama on insignificant issues.

Bayo Onanuga's somewhat wrong. Shoot at sight is a variant that is considered a grammatically weak alternative to "Shoot on sight".

Should this matter materially to us? How does the grammar you are emphasizing improve our government, politics, administration and life at large.

Why should we deflect from what should matter, like vandalism of public infrastructure, to grammatically being correct.

Is this about lecturing or grammar? This is very ridiculous and they have succeeded in distracting you as well.

I don't really care about the grammar; I care about the provision and maintenance of public infrastructures. Any thing legal should be done to arrest, prosecute and eliminate the vandals of public infrastructures.

This is not about defending Onanuga however, must you reprimand an elderly person with such harsh and abusive words.

Do you know how despicable and condescending it sounds when you refer to some human being as a pig.

you're not very bright or intelligent.

When a privileged government spokespersons calls for law enforcement to "shoot citizens on sight for vandalisms, it should make your blood cold except there's an inclination to being a respectful life taker on your part. Remove the strings of submissive puppet attached to your limbs and stand up for Nigeria as a patriot

The problem with folks like you is that you're only clever by half.

I once said that this Shuaobu used to be a “Use of English “ JAMB teacher back in the early 90s but one indomie Gen- z was abusing me over it. Remember when we were all invited to the National theatre back then for one of his lectures. He used to anchor “Mind your Grammar” on Galaxy TV back then .
