The Ministry acted correctly in issuing a clear, official statement. It reinforces the need for Nigerians to verify educational materials through NERDC before accepting claims, especially when such claims touch on ethnic or cultural representation.

Claim: There were viral reports that the Igbo history was excluded from the "Living History", a book allegedly approved by the NERDC for Junior Secondary class 1.

A lot of posts on X had accused the FG of sidelining the Igbo tribe by excluding its history from the said approved textbook.

The Federal Government vehemently denies this.

EDUCATION MINISTER, MARUF TUNJI ALAUSA reacts

Reaction from the Federal Ministry of Education;
JSS 1 to JSS 3 textbook approval is actually under State Ministry of Education.

I understand what you are trying to do there but let me tell you categorical that the fear of Igbo domination haskept so many people awake, delirious and exhausted for centuries. Please take this message back to your people, their fear of domination not withstanding, Igbo man just wants to succeed in any environment he finds himself and they are succeeding both home and away regardless of any hostility.
Lol, domination indeed! Yes, we know exactly how you dominated the Ijaws, the Binis, the Itsekiris, and the Igalas in the olden days. Yes, we have read the history of your dominion over all of them! Yes, Igbo people are succeeding everywhere — yes, we know. From India to South Africa, from Ghana to Malaysia, from Singapore to Bangladesh, etc. — you guys are succeeding!
We also know how many Igbo men are listed on the Forbes billionaires list — yes, we know! Dangote, Adenuga, Rabiu, Otedola, Madam Alakija, etc., are all Igbos! Hmmmm… Igbo history — do you guys even want us to see it?!

I didn't refute anything.
Igbos bring a story of Igbo history. You accept it and another set of Igbos disclaim it and bring another one.

What exactly is the true history of Igbos in Nigeria?
Most tribes have the same problem

Yorubas...did they come from the middle east , were they already here, or did they come from the sahara or did they come from the sky?

Hausas..did they come from the middle east, or did they come from Ethiopia or did they come from the Sahara as well?

(I even know of at least two minority tribes that claim to have come from Egypt.).

Thanks to the Igbos for speaking up.

They would have gone ahead with their nonsense if not for the uproar.

Where Yorubas originated from?

Someone approved this book in lagos .

Who?
What if it was approved in Lagos? The Lagos State Ministry of Education, among other things, has the prerogative to promote Yoruba culture in the state. How on earth is that a sin or an anomaly—especially when Lagos State is a Yorubaland? Would you have preferred that Lagos promote Igbo culture instead? This is funny—what won’t we read here!

Noted.

Life is what you make of it..... If you always see yourself as a victim, you'll forever remain a victim.
What nonsense are you saying? Does his saying that the book is not approved mean the same thing as the circulating story being false??

Who wrote the book in the first place and exclude one of the major tribes in the country??

I aligned with your narration, it might be Yoruba or even south south history, but trust my people from ☀️, they being it up to claim victimisation.
The content of that history book talked about, Hausa history..
Fulani history..
Igala history..
Benin history..
Yoruba history..
Then ijaw or one of the minority tribes in South South...

So what do you've to say?

These people will go to any length to push a victimhood and marginalisation narrative to score cheap political points, demonising others while playing the saints, all just to have their way in politics and beyond.
My brother no be everything be Cho Cho Cho. A book was written and excluded a major tribe and you say they shouldn't draw the attention of people in authority?
If a chronological account was being compiled in your village and the name of your family was surreptitiously missing, will you say there is no cause for alarm? Be honest please.
Let's stop playing to the gallery with everything. This is a history book for children that will end up in some schools. I saw a video of a parent complaining already. Meaning the child has read the book.

I don't even know what you are wailing for? Is that you don't see the pathological phobia for Igbos in your house?

While Fulani maims and cut short your lives, it's the Igbos that gives you sleepless night because they are have the success streaks in their DNA wherever they go?

Talking about drjug business, it was Yorubas that left it for others when 419 became a thing. If you were born in the 70s and 80s, you would know your history. Without venturing too far, your presidiot is living proof that Yorubas were neck deep into powder before moving to wire fraud. They are in jail all over Europe and America.

I don't know what there is to be proud about Dangote when his little state of Kano is a den of Almajiri from ages gone. Himself and all the people you mentioned there are opportunist who took advantage of the decay in the Nigerian system to enrich themselves.
