I am not excusing anything, nor am I grandstar, nor do I support nomadic herding, and I am angry government has not developed the railways system so that cows can be transported that way, nor am I supporting the guy's carrying AK 47 (especially since some of them use their gun for things like attacking farms and kidnappin)

But unfortunately bandits, and boko haram attack fulani herdsmen and steal their cows. Hence the AK 47.

Add the fact that the police is poorly funded, and that we don't have adequate rail transport, and thus people do self help.
You're not making sense. Bottom line is that fortified ranching would be the answer if the herdsmen were open to that option instead of being incorrigible and obtuse vagrants who love going up and doing getting up to all sorts when such is no longer tenable in this day and age.

Why insisting on such a backwards practice when you can increase yield, profit, commercial animal husbandry etc embracing modernity?

Look what small Netherlands has made from modern Cattle rearing while the production of Cattle in Nigeria is now linked to deaths, maimings, misery and destruction of livelihood etc.

You are simply doing a Bala Mohammed who lazily opined that Fulani herdsmen are justified carrying AK47 foer protectiong when he should, as a Governor and educated leader, be leading the drive for Fulanis to embrace modern and far more productive cattle rearing methods.

All I see here is how backward thinking uneducated people can be

These Herders don't know that the world has developed past them

In a sane country, he would be stopped by police and arrested for illegal possession of arms
He doesn’t know the world has developed past them but knows how to use modern weapons called Ak47
What happened to his bow and arrow?

It will never be well with the people allowing this…

Seems those guys are above the law and we all watching doing nothing

Would you also understand when I carry a 9mm pistol or an AK 47 as I travel on the highway due to bandits, terrorists and kidnappers? Remember my assets is worth over 30 M too!
Would that be alright? Pls answer me honestly.
NO, I would tell you and mr fulani man to vote for the right people, so that you don't have to carry guns in the open.

It's like y'all are misunderstanding my point. Anyway, ....

South is wasting it's resources being in the same nation with the north, they like backwardness and fear fulani like their God. Let's get a referendum and divide this country peacefully.

We are not misunderstanding you. Your write up seems like you are giving tacit support to the gun-totting Fulani herder. It may not be your intention but that's what the post is giving.

Okay, enjoy the bad government that made it possible.
The only bad Government that made it possible is that from Northern politicians who refused to educate and develop their human resources to the extent many are not civilized and prefer to live in Forest and bushes rather than a home in a community where they can build what is the best model of purposeful and progressive life in the world today.

I really don't understand people like you frothing at the mouth at "Government". Is it that you are scared to mention the specific regions failed government is from when we inspect the existential menace Northerners have become to Nigeria?

You think well-educated and civilised human being go around vagrantly murdering strangers, taking over land and territory of others or is it that such behaviour more suited to Neanderthals from stone age?

Bro speak the truth and shame the Devil. The USA did it and even Gumi is now beginning to make concessions and admissions he never would have made even six months ago when he was strutting around gaslighting the entire Nigeria as guilty of "neglecting" and "marginalising" Northern children.

Whereas we know that is lies from the pits of hell because those subjugating, marginalizing, neglecting and dehumanising Northern children are Northern leaders.

Ditto herdsmen who are now too used to living like savages white civilisation discovered in Africa well over a century ago and refuse to adapt to life as we know it today.

Fact is that Northern big men keep these boys as cheap, uneducated and uncivilised labour, they groom from a young age, to use tending to their Cattle flock.

Your take is offensive bro. Nigeria is going down because we keep refusing to tell ourselves the truth while indulging monsters who are distinterested in reforming and will take us all down with them in the end.

SO, which part of 'holding government to account so that no one, including the herdsman' has to carry guns again ' don't you understand.?

And I seriously resent you calling me a supporter of illegality. It shows you still don;t get it.

Very poor reporting. You would have failed woefully if these were to be an exam.
All I see is blured photos of humans and animals.
I can't find the herder with an AK.
You can do better next time OP.

Herdsmen men have been roaming all over Africa with their cattle since ancient times. Open grazing remains the most healthy and cost effective way to raise cattle and produce quality beef.
When ex president Buhari suggest re-establishing ancient cattle grazing routes it was opposed, yet the idea of ranches was equally opposed.
So in the absence of a government solution then the status quo remains and every body should just be calming down.

Stop being sarcastic and lame at the same time. Tell me how the so called luxury busses and warehouses cause environmental disastere and eyesores to the community/country.

Who will pack the poo from the cows and also maintain traffic while they take their majestic walk.

Tell them to build a ranch and nobody would give a damn even if they employ the security services of the CIA, MOSAD and KJB equiped with surface to Air missiles.

One of the major achievement of Buhari and APC was to arm the Fulani herdsmen.
Let us not pretend as if we all don't know the truth.
Stop demonizing late Buhari. We have realized he was a Messiah as compared to the present jeopardy in governance. Fulani herdsmen menace was in existence before the coming of Buhari and still and will still be there till tomorrow. The present economic. yorubanisation affects more citizens than Fulani menaces.

Buhari is a first class demon.
I lived in the core North in the 80's and 90's.
No Fulani herdsmen carried an AK-47 assault rifle.
What the Fulani herdsmen carried was their cane, cutlass and water bottle hanged on their shoulders.
Until when Buhari became President, Fulani herdsmen started carrying AK-47 like stick all around.
God will never forgive him. He should continue to rot in hell fire

People advocated for Ranching and opposed so called Ruga.

You just called it ancient and right now, it's not sustainable.
Farmers and herders clashes, bandits and other clear disadvantages are enough to shove this way of life away.
It's an obsolete, outdated and do your research, it's not a healthy way of producing quality beef.

Cow milk production is more profitable and much more better with Ranching.
