Haydens:It was first a colonial thing…whether by omission or commission! Then the Yoruba/Fulani hegemonic alliance took over the baton after ‘independence’, and theirs was INTENTIONAL and aimed at divide-and-conquer! They’ve been at it ever since, and you can sense their opposition, dislike and even (for some strange reason) fear of the unification of the Igbo race across man-made boundaries! |

ogaemma:The Ogbemudias are from igbo ancestry. The village is even named Igbo-akiri he used to be known as chinedu ogbemudia which was his grandfather's name. Edo state is not a tribe! Its a state that has many tribes like beni, ishang, igbanke. Even Rema fathers name was Justice chukwuma Ikubo. |

43Ronin:Oga Papa Benson Idahosa was not an orphan that was picked up from the streets. He knows his father's house. His parents died while he was very young. He knows his root too well. He did not hide his root. Ogbemudia is not Igbo and was never Igbo. Those are cooked up history. He never spoke Igbo one day. Ogbemudia is a Bini name. It means the compound or heritage will stand . Do your fact check and forget all this edited and fake history. |

LagosOrigin:This belief is part of what is causing problems for Igbos and many Igbos happen to believe it. By NIN registration figures SE is eighty percent of Lagos state. This means SE is around 18 or 19 million if Lagos is around 23 million. Rivers and Delta also have population in Igbo and Igboid land maybe a total of 6 million since Rivers as a whole isn't more than 8 million and Delta is not more than 6 to 7 million. Total population in Igbo and Igboid land in SS and SE is around 25 million and it contains millions of non Igbo. How many Igbos in Lagos? No census but give them 2 million. All other places 3 million. If you remove non Igbos living in Igbo land, you will have less than 30 million Igbos in Nigeria It is better for Nigeria to breakup for everybody to know their true weight. If there is an Igbo only country today in west Africa it will rank below Ghana in population even after adding PH, Asaba and etc If what you claim is correct, it will show up in number of professors, number of billionaires, number of Nigerians with published works, number of captains of industries, leading researchers, successful and decorated musicians, music that top charts and etc but it does not because the population base is not there |

CrownOfClay724: fineboynl:Interesting. I doubt there's anyone that doesn't feel marginalized in Edo though. It's underresourced and has not had stellar governance since '99, so everywhere outside Benin City has a very bad road network and decrepit primary schools. Unless your village has been lucky to produce the governor and got some of its roads done (e.g., Iyamho). Good for the Igbankes though. Wahala for other communities who don't have where to run to. |

ogaemma:You see people change names for survival purposes. A manager in my office her name is Keona.A. micheals. She's a Black American(so i thlught). One day in the lunch room, I made a phone call to my mum in igbo. she later approached me and told me that she was originally igbo(father & mother). I asked why no igbo surname, she laughed and said her father's first name is Micheal surname is igbo. But she rather took her father's first name as her surname so that it would not be hard for her to thrive in americas leadership & corporate world. The A in her name means Ada. I was only privileged to know other won't even know that shes igbo. Many people adopt names to blend and assimilate into their surroundings. They know their origin |

Absolutely no justification for the creation of a new state in Nigeria, especially in that region. Let us instead consider ways to merge existing states. We cannot afford to take care of another State governor, vice and 20+ HOA members. Ezeama400: |

Can't comment on this much let my inlaws from Edo state answer the call because wetin I sabi before was the Igbo speaking Delta corridor now dm don moved to Edo soon dem go call oba of Benin out in my people Quest for expansion and land grab---bing. They are here now calling Delta igbo as one of dem and now Edo wen it comes to land grabbing but when it come to sharing value formulas dey turn fake igbo and push dem aside. I remember what Okowa suffered wen he went to campaign for Atiku in SE and called himself say e be igbo dem rushed here and debunked am and called him fake igbo and I even copied one of dem wey talk say and I quote "we can not allow fake igbos to rule over us". I saved the statement its my archive and I will look for it if I find it I go upload it. Biko na who dey deceive who Edo people soon dem go tag una to be Jews...by my oversabi people wey sabi God pass God Himself and go wan tru Ogbanke or ugbanke wan force you to dey do sit at home and go wan force you to dey worship Kanu... Dem no like me oo and me nor send me don left dem tey tey infact I nor dey see myself as one of dem tey tey so talk anything nwanem I nor send! |

Lovit:I'm not even talking about Igbos that left the south east to reside in other states, I'm talking about indigenous Igbo people that are from Edo, Rivers, Benue, Kogi and others. Remember Mercy Johnson if from Kogi state but she is Igbo. Her middle name is Ozioma. There are many others too. |
