The same way they vehemently denied the coup attempt... Old tactics 🫤🙄🙄

fergie001:
Claim: There were viral reports that the Igbo history was excluded from the "Living History", a book allegedly approved by the NERDC for Junior Secondary class 1.

A lot of posts on X had accused the FG of sidelining the Igbo tribe by excluding its history from the said approved textbook.

The Federal Government vehemently denies this.

All education is in English. You can learn the language of your school Region as a course but not a criteria to pass a class.
That’s my law.

The content of that history book talked about, Hausa history..
Fulani history..
Igala history..
Benin history..
Yoruba history..
Then ijaw or one of the minority tribes in South South...

So what do you've to say?
Did they use it in any govt school?

The real publisher/writer of that book might be igbo, doing that to make govt of the day bad before public.

Propagandist can go to any length to achieve aims.

The origin of your own tribe is not widely accepted and undisputed by all your village people, but u want someone to drop that of the Igbos because of ur miserable audio money.

It's Igbo writer that wrote it to make govt bad before public.

Ipob and Kanu wrote more than this before.

No rational historian/write would write Nigeria history and forgot to include the 3rd largest ethics group in his book.

Every writer want to make money, he would know the amount of money that will come from 5 state from Igbo land.

It is ironic you are talking about food when you lost a war because of starvation.
If you saw food to eat, would you have had "the kwashioks"? grin

You have nothing to drop as to your history and it is a shame.

The authors of this book tells you a story of the level of hatred and bitterness in a certain tribe have for the igbos, however igbos keep striving for greater heights while some others choose to hate.
First of all,FG should not only offer a rebuttal, they should go ahead and ban the book all over Nigeria and the authors should be invited by the DSS,to explain the reason for wanting to ignite ethnic tension in Nigeria.Like I have always known because of the characters involved,it will quickly be swept under the carpet.
We move on!

I;m not competing for the prize, but the problem with origins of tribes in nigeria is oral history, which can get garbled in the process of transmission

(As an example...we don't have a clear view of English history before the Romans came, and as for Scandinavia...before 1000 ad, all we know is they were sea pirates and bandits).

Fulanis, for example...their progenitor allegedly migrated from Egypt to Guinea/Senegal, where he married a Wolof woman, and thus came the Fulani...which raises a lot of questions
1.How did the guy travel across the desert with all the cows.?
2. So he married a Wolof girl...are the Fula a subgroup of the wolof, ...which then brings the question...where do the wolof come from?

Igbos.
1.Probably came from the North due to the great displacement caused by the Sahara widening into a desert over 6000 years ago.
2.Probably migrated from elsewhere
3. Probably have always been there.

The same issue exists with all tribes in Nigeria. That's because of the problems with oral history. Even those that claim they came from Egypt or from the middle east...for all we know, they migrated thousands of years earlier when the areas became desert...and the story became garbled somewhere.

You won';t get a clear answer to your question really. Or even to the origin of your own tribe. At some point people were displaced to other parts of the world

Take the English, the Anglo saxons took over and assimilated the Celts in England, and the Celts also assimilated and displaced the original people of the islands over 3000 years ago.

Thank you for your contribution.

Now, back to the controversial matter.
Which of the narratives in bold would have been put in that book which would not be rebutted by other Igbos?

Cos if they wrote any of them down, other Igbos wil accuse the writers of bias and attempting to distort history

Stop making noise and crying without cause.

Go and write your own book and exclude other tribes.

Exactly. Yorubas have accepted that. Did you see any division, dispute or rancour?

But until Ibos learn to sit down and agree, they will never have a place in history. Fact.
