Good evening sir,

Thank you for the detailed update. For a 2008 Honda Civic 1.8L (R18 engine), going through 3 alternators and still experiencing no charging at low RPM clearly shows that the alternators themselves are not the primary fault.

This is a system control issue, not a parts issue.

🔧 Professional Diagnostic Insight

1️⃣ ECU-Controlled Alternator System (Honda Smart Charging)
This Civic does not charge the same way older cars do.
The Engine ECU controls alternator output depending on:
• Idle RPM
• Battery state of charge
• Electrical load

If the ECU does not activate the Field Control Signal at low revs → charging will drop.

A faulty:
• ECU signal wire
• Alternator control circuit
• Load Detection Sensor (on battery terminal)

…will cause your exact complaint.

2️⃣ Faulty Battery Current Sensor / Load Detector (Very Common Issue)
When this sensor fails:
• Alternator only charges properly at high RPM
• Dash might not show battery light
• Alternator keeps getting blamed and replaced

This sensor must be tested before replacing any other component.

3️⃣ Grounding & Charging Circuit Voltage Drop
Weak or corroded grounds around:
• Engine block
• Chassis ground strap
• Alternator mounting ground

…will cause low charging only at idle.

Many technicians ignore this and keep changing alternators.

4️⃣ Idle RPM Stability Issues
If idle drops below spec (AC on, steering load, fans engage):
• Alternator output falls
• Charging light may flicker
Proper scan is required to confirm.

⚙️ Ryan Automotive Workshop – Professional Take

This is not an alternator problem anymore.
The charging control network must be checked — especially:
• Battery current sensor
• ECU signal wire
• Full charging system voltage-drop test

Replacing more alternators without diagnosis will waste money and still not resolve anything.

✅ Professional Summary & Correct Next Steps

Required tests:
• ✔️ Smart Charging System scan
• ✔️ Alternator field control command test (live data)
• ✔️ Load detection sensor test
• ✔️ Ground/terminal voltage drop measurement
• ✔️ Battery condition + current flow analysis

This is how we identify exactly what is cutting off charging at idle — no guesswork.

If you want this resolved once and for all, kindly send us a DM.

Please what is the common faults to look out for when buying a toks Honda accord 2014 Model?
Good evening sir,

Excellent question — the 2014 Honda Accord (2.0L / 2.4L) is a solid choice, but like every vehicle, there are common faults you should check before buying a foreign-used unit.

🔧 Professional Pre-Purchase Diagnostic Insight
(What we always inspect for clients)

1️⃣ CVT Transmission Shudder / Delay (2.4L models)
• Jerking between 20–40 km/h
• Delay when shifting from P → D
• Whining noise at low speed
This comes from CVT fluid contamination or worn internal bearings.

A proper road test + CVT data scan is very important.

2️⃣ Engine Oil Consumption
Some units — especially 2.4L — may burn oil gradually.
Symptoms:
• Blue smoke when revved (warm engine)
• Oil level drops between services

Check maintenance history + dipstick before buying.

3️⃣ AC Condenser Leaks
Very common on Tokunbo Accords.
Signs:
• AC stops cooling after a few days gas refill
• Oily stain on condenser front

Replacement can be costly depending on grade.

4️⃣ Front Lower Control Arm Bushings Wear
On Lagos roads, these wear faster:
• Suspension noise over bumps
• Steering vibration at speed

5️⃣ Steering Rack & EPS Sensor Issues
Symptoms:
• Steering feels heavy occasionally
• Dashboard EPS warning light
Failing racks on high-mileage imports need attention.

⚙️ Ryan Automotive Workshop – Professional Take

For a Tokunbo purchase, validation is key.
Many hidden faults do not show during a short inspection or test-drive.

Make sure you do a Full Pre-Purchase Diagnostic:
• ✔️ Deep computerized scan (Engine + CVT + ABS + EPS)
• ✔️ Engine health evaluation
• ✔️ Transmission data review
• ✔️ Undercarriage + suspension inspection
• ✔️ AC & electrical system testing

This single step can save you hundreds of thousands in hidden repairs.

📍 We handle Pre-Purchase Inspection for clients buying cars from any dealer or port location — distance is never a barrier to getting the correct engineering truth before paying.

If you’re ready and want our technical team to inspect before you commit money, kindly send us a DM.

Good day boss which battery capacity is recommended for honda civic 2010 model?
RyanAutomotive:
✅ Recommended Car Batteries for Corolla

Highlights
• Exide 12V 45Ah Car Battery — Great entry-level battery if you want cheap but reliable power for a Corolla. A 45 Ah lead-acid battery gives adequate starting power and tends to be cheaper and easier to replace.
• Bosch 12V 60Ah Starter Battery — If you want a bit more reserve capacity (for things like AC, lights, radio, etc.) while staying budget-friendly. A good balance between performance and cost.
• Bosch 12V 65Ah S4 Starter Battery — A heavier-duty option if you run extra accessories or want more longevity. Slightly more expensive, but reliable under harsh conditions.
• Bosch 12V 45Ah Starter Battery — Compact starter-type battery, ideal for standard Corolla with stock electrical load and no heavy aftermarket extras.
• Exide NS60L 12V 45Ah Car Battery — Another 45 Ah option from Exide, with good cold-cranking amps and maintenance-free design — good if you value ease of use.
• Hankook 12V 60Ah Car Battery — A mid-range battery, slightly more capacity than base 45 Ah types; useful if the car has extra electronics or you often take longer drives.
• Prime 12V 45Ah Car Battery — Budget-oriented battery; a valid pick for a simple, no-frills starter setup on a Corolla.
• Target Premium 12V 62Ah Car Battery — Good mid-capacity battery giving a balance between strength, reliability, and cost — ideal if you want more robustness than 45 Ah but don’t need heavy duty.

🛠 What to know when picking
• A 45 Ah battery (like Exide 45 Ah or Bosch 45 Ah) is often enough for a regular Corolla, especially if the car is used for city driving and doesn’t have a heavy electrical load.
• If you want extra reserve power (for AC, higher electrical load, or longer trips), going for 60 Ah – 65 Ah gives more reliability and fewer chances of weak starts — good trade-off between performance and price.
• Always confirm battery dimensions (tray size), terminal polarity and ensure compatibility with your particular Corolla year/engine — especially if it’s imported.

Good day Engineers, pls help me, it’s been 2yrs I notice the hose that supply steering oil from the plastic container in Honda civic 2009 is always wet of oil moisture, and there’s a oil leakage dropping on the rim of the front passenger side Tyre. The steering oil goes down slowly I top it like once in a month. I didn’t really take it serious until I saw a post on facebook, a man said he sold his Honda civic for the same issues because mechanics failed to fix it. Thanks in advance.

Help, my 05 Honda Accord doesn't engage in drive in the morning, but the reverse gear engage, but will just pick suddenly after while. I have changed the oil and serviced one part like dt on top of the gear and also the transmission oil filter too, yet, no changes.
It work perfectly again once that D later engage.

Good morning sir.

Thank you for providing a detailed description of your situation. The symptoms you’re describing are classic signs of a hydraulic or control issue in the transmission, especially on older Honda Accord models like your 2005 unit. Let’s break this down professionally.

🔎 Professional Diagnostic Insight

Vehicle: Honda Accord 2005
Symptoms:
• Drive (D) does not engage in the morning initially
• Reverse (R) engages without issues
• D later engages after some time
• Transmission oil and filter already replaced

The fact that reverse works immediately but drive does not suggests the issue is not mechanical in the clutch packs themselves, but rather pressure build-up or solenoid control related.

1️⃣ Cold Start Hydraulic Pressure Issue

Automatic transmissions rely on hydraulic pressure to engage gears. On cold mornings:
• Oil is thicker, flow is slower
• Weak solenoids or partially blocked passages may fail to build sufficient pressure for 1st gear
• Reverse may engage because its circuit uses a slightly different hydraulic pathway

Even after changing the fluid, if solenoids, valve body passages, or pump pressure are marginal, D may not engage immediately.

2️⃣ Torque Converter and Shift Solenoids

The delay in D engagement can be caused by:
• Torque converter clutch solenoid not activating properly
• Shift solenoids sticking or slow to respond
• Valve body passages partially blocked with debris

These components can cause intermittent gear engagement — exactly what you are experiencing.

3️⃣ Transmission Oil Filter Consideration

Replacing the filter is correct, but:
• Old filter may leave residual debris in the valve body
• This can affect solenoid operation temporarily
• Proper valve body cleaning or inspection may be required if issues persist

⚠️ Important Observation

Since the vehicle works normally once D finally engages, this indicates the clutch packs and gear teeth themselves are likely healthy. The problem is more about:

• Hydraulic pressure build-up
• Solenoid responsiveness
• Valve body function at lower temperatures

This is why simply changing oil and filter may not fully resolve it.

📌 Recommended Next Steps

To properly fix this issue, the following steps should be taken:

1️⃣ Live Data Scan – Monitor line pressure, torque converter pressure, and solenoid activity during cold start
2️⃣ Check Valve Body Solenoids – Test for sticking or delayed response
3️⃣ Inspect Pump Pressure – Ensure hydraulic pressure is sufficient to engage first gear
4️⃣ Optional Valve Body Cleaning – If debris or sludge is detected affecting pressure
5️⃣ Confirm Fluid Type & Level – Correct Honda ATF at proper operating temperature

This structured approach avoids guesswork and unnecessary parts replacement.

🎯 Professional Take

Your transmission is functionally sound, but pressure control at cold start is marginal. Early intervention with diagnostic scanning and valve body/solenoid inspection will prevent future issues such as:

• Full D engagement failure
• Overheating
• Premature clutch pack wear

🏢 Ryan Automotive Limited Recommendation

We advise bringing your vehicle for professional transmission diagnostics, including:

• Live scan of solenoid operation and line pressure
• Valve body assessment
• Cold-start behavior analysis

Proper diagnostics will identify the root cause and prevent unnecessary replacement of the entire gearbox.

Hi, everyone.

I’m really grateful for how anytime we come for advise here someone is always ready to assist.

I have come once again as regards a colleagues car which is to be fixed. It is a Toyota matrix.

The mechanic sent the following bill to us.

I want to know if the price is fair in view of the current market prices.

I’m also skeptical about the steering rack: I always hear things like when steering rack is faulty, it cannot be fixed

Also, gear oil for 45,000 naira. Is that not a fake gear oil.

I’ll be grateful for a requote.

Thank you so much.
