Why should US send F35, a 100 million dollars fighter jet to shoot down a drone less than 20,000 dollars with missiles close to 1 million dollars?

Aircraft carriers are part of a Carrier group. They are usually accompanied by several destroyers, submarines , cruisers and on an board aircraft carrier wing whose role is to defend it.
With over 5000 personnel attacking the carrier is equivalent to attacking America mainland and the response to downing one would result in most likely a nuclear attack on the nation. Nations can attack the frigates,destroyers,submarines accompanying it but they know better than attack the carrier.
It does have anti-aircraft Gatling guns and short range missiles though.

It’s easier to shoot down the drone that waste precious time and resources in using air defense systems that aren’t 100% accurate.
