What about Project Hail Mary?

That movie is coming out next month and I've barely seen any hype for it.

It looks like one of those movies that could be very good but unfortunately fly under the radar.

Well that list I just dropped was a copy from ScreenRant's or Collider most anticipated action movies of 2026. I just added my own twist with my box office projections.
I haven't really taken a hard look at this year's release date aside from the few I did last year.

Project Hail Mary? Well, I've been seeing a few hype since last year tho.... Not very loud but something substantial. I hear the book it was adopted from author Andy Weir is a very well received bestseller.

It's in the Sci-fi genre, I don't know if it also fits the action genre.

On marketing..... Well it is an AmazonMGM release. And those guys aren't known for doing all-timer promo push or mega release taking the world by storm asides the James Bond franchise.

Let's see if it builds hype when the final trailer gets released on Superbowl this Sunday.

So fingers crossed.

I don't think Lionsgate has ever impressed me with a promo campaign before. Breathtaking trailers back to back.

Jack's Sparrows son huh

Why not do a hard reboot huh

Do a new movie with Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swan, Will Turner and Captain Barbosa with new actors and a new story.

I'm not watching a Pirates of the Caribbean movie without Jack Sparrow.

Who the hell is Jack Sparrow's son anyway?

Give me Jack Sparrow please.

Multiple actors have played Batman and Joker but Hollywood can't give us a new Jack Sparrow for some reason undecided

Well, they're avoiding the hive who will come and raise hell fire for trying to recast Johnny Depp.

Disney is just bidding it's time till when Johnny is too old to play him anymore and the fans and new generation of audience must have forgotten who Jack Sparrow was.

Based on things coming out in the #EpsteinFiles, there was a recommendation to watch What You Wish For as a sought of Revelation of the Method to avoid karmic retribution and my gawd!!!

Movie didn't really pick up until the 30mins mark and it was just from one to another.

Crazy things are happening oh.

HAMNET......9.5/10

Jessie Buckley can just go and grab that Oscar statuette right now....she should be given already. What a career defining performance. Damn!!
Kudos also goes to Paul Mescal, top top performance he delivered.

The film follows William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes and depicts the influences that lead to Shakespeare writing his legendary tragedy— Hamlet.

So far so good, this is the best film of the year. It talks about grief, loss, love, death in a whole other level. That play at the end just elevated the film miles ahead. It put things more in perspective about Shakespeare's grief and sorrow which torments him so, but can't express to his wife or the outside world. Instead, he pours his heart out in his work.

Top shelf directing right there, and that particular scene with the crowd extended hands trying to reach Hamlet— that was a masterstroke.
The music score is just top notch and binds you to the story. Great and intimate cinematography that molds you to the story.

If you were in doubt about Chloe Zhao, bruv, this film clears all doubt and exhibits the spectacular direction she delivered.

I saw this last night and i was in total awe of just how beautiful it was. Among the 3 films i penciled down to be my fav of last year, after seeing all 3, i can safely say i got them spot on 👍🏿.

A tragic description of how we deal with grief. They always say you can't tell someone how to grief and this is always true. Agnes devastated because how visions were wrong, and wanted William Shakespeare to share in her grief, but like with all great artists, they tend to want to turn grief to an obsession to make an all timer art, and Williams Shakespeare turned his grief into one of the greatest stage plays, this world has ever known.

The lost of a loved one is the greatest grief there is, imo, because how dare this precious.. precious.. soul, die? 😞. I remember losing a loved one sometime ago, and the next morning, people consoling me, the previous night, went to work, put on clothes and even ate...how dare they?!😩...but the world doesn't stop because you are grieving.

I been knew that Jessie Buckley was capable of flawless, emote and somber performances like this, pulled it off in "I'm thinking of ending things" (2020) and did same here too. That cheeky smile at the end, after knowing seeing "Hamlet" and realizing it was a tribute was perfection, the whole of the last scene too was a beautiful culmination. Rooting for her at the Oscars, but maan, i have already got 2 actresses i was already stanning, would actually be fine if any of the 3 got it tbh.

The cinematography too was top work, especially the forest scenes.

Proper proper film 👏

Top top film man. I never thought they'd surpass the score they used in that trailer that drew me in....but mahn, that final scene. Damn!!

Sorry about your loss man.... It's been long I watched a top shelf film neck deep in processing grief since Bring Her Back.

Those forest cinematography scene were cinematic man. Especially the overhead shots.

Now I need to go and watch Sentimental Value, my other Oscar fave.

Sentimental Value (2025) is a really good one. I was impressed by the Oscar list this year, apart from one or 2 pandering ragebaity norms, the list is fine for the most parts, and i have so many faves in there.

Train Dreams (2025).

"It feels like the sadness would just eat me alive"

I was so swamped with family activities during the yuletide that i didn't have the time to dig into my end of year playlist, but I locked in, since the turn of the year, and saw some really really incredible motion pictures and this was just the top of the cream.

A Logger at the very end of the 20th century goes through time, joy, grief, loss and trying to find meaning and purpose to this thing called "Life".

Joel Edgerton is built for roles like this. Longing for the warmth of family is his bread and butter...i have seen him play this exact part in Loving (2016) and the Apple Tv show Dark Matter (2024) and he perfectly nailed it, in all three..I mean, you could see his pain, you almost feel this guilt in your core, like how can a man's life be this devoid of light?. He narrowly missed the norm for best actor at the Oscars but the 6 other nominations for the film, tells you, this is a top shelf film...i mean it's up for Best Picture...it doesn't get better than that

The cinematography is absolutely breathtaking, makes it the more harder to look away, makes for a beautiful, tragic, devastating watch.

Films like this are the reason why i even bother to still be an ardent cinephile. It stuck with me for days after seeing it. I was pleasantly surprised Netflix was able to snap up the distribution rights of this, despite all the stick i give them, they occasionally snap up indie gems like this, reminds me of when they gave me Private Life (2018) and Marriage Story (2019). This is a top tier film and i will be rooting for it at the oscars, along with my other babies.

8/10.

Saw this yesterday while going through the Oscars noms list and was a little surprised seeing it cos it was almost totally off my radar through out this awards season. It's prolly the only film I missed hearing or talking about before this Academy listing. 🤔🤔

Yeah, Oscars this year looks like a pretty good list but I'm missing on half of them......still plan to catch up on most tho. I think the only let down this year might be the animation category.

I was so glad when I saw Wicked For Good totally ignored. And that blue skin generic skin Avatar getting the unimportant nom was a soothing balm.
How that shit enter Best Picture that year still dey vex me.

Pray tell, what's the pandering movies? One Battle After Another & possibly Sinners? grin grin

Just started The Housemaid...

Sydney Sweeney doesn't miss any chance to show off her rack...
They look gorgeous ngl...

And i don't know why I dont trust the husband...
He seems "too perfect"...
Wouldn't be surprised if he is somehow responsible for his wife's mental illness...lmao

The Housemaid (2025)....5.5/10

Before watching, I thought this was a remake of the 2010 Korean movie with the same title...but it wasn't...

It was a very predictable movie and I thought it was mid honestly. The writing felt like those amateur wattpad novels....

And i checked afterwards and it indeed is an adaptation of a novel...

Sydney Sweeney's acting her was lackluster but I don't blame her as much, the amateurish script didn't even give her anything to work with...
Even the voice overs were cringe and low effort from the leads...
The "plottwist" was predictable and cliche...

Despite all these, I don't regret watching the movie...
The side shots of Sydney Sweeney's títs were absolutely worth it grin
No matter how bad her acting is, I will keep watching her as long as she gives me the fanservice I want...
