The EFCC, today, February 5, 2026, secured the conviction of Robert Orya, a former Managing Director, Nigerian Import Export Bank, NEXIM (2011-2016), for a fraud of about N2.4 Billion. Orya who was prosecuted by EFCC’s Samuel Ugwuegbulam, was convicted by Justice F.E. Messiri of the FCT High court, Abuja and sentenced to ten years imprisonment on each of the 49 count charge. That's a crazy sentence, they should just kill the man.
Bello,el rufai,tambuwal,etc that stole more are walking free.

It's concurrently, so, it's 10 yrs but in real sense, it's 5 yrs. (Counting day night as 2 days).

Over ₦2b for just 5 years in jail.

The news doesn't tell us the other side of the judgement because, all financial crimes sentences always comes with alternative options of fine.

2.4billion naira in 2016 is far more than 250 billion in 2025.
Although both yeye Bello and malami deserve at least 500 yrs jail terms each.

That's just an high court judgement, he can still appeal. If all the sentences are ri run concurrently, then he's spending just 5yrs in Jail which is night and day. Each sentencing should have been 50yrs. Lawyers in the house, over to you.

5 year actually, going by prison calendar....unless the sentence would run consecutively which i seriously doubt.

We want to see Malami sentenced like this, before we can agree it fair. They are quick to sentence non-northerners but find it difficult to jail corrupt northerners.
