The NAF is 10yrs behind the Nigerian Navy & Army. The Navy has Falcon eye, Maritime Domain Awareness, Deep Blue, etc. The NAF doesn't even have radar coverage for all its air-bases, talk more of the whole Nigerian airspace.

Here is a proposed 10yr strategic modernization plan for the NAF. Aircrafts for consideration.

A) Chinese J15 or J16 Air superiority fighter - 3 squadrons ( 2 squadrons in storage, with regular upgrades)

B) Chinese AWACS (×2) (1 in storage, with upgrades)

C) US C-17 cargo plane (×2) [ the old C-130s should be fully upgraded and put in storage]

D) Chengdu J-7/F-7N1 ( Local production in Nigeria) Full technology transfer bought off.

E) AIR Corps for radar and missiles.

F) AIR Corps for aircraft software & systems.

F) NAF - DICON (local production of rockets and, air to air missiles)

It's a good proposal... But the main reason that had enabled the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Navy to quickly update equipment is... we now locally produce items used by these units...

Plain and armored vehicles are locally produced here in Nigeria... both by branded companies such as Innoson, Proforce... and emerging organisations fabricating marine vessels of various capacities... These products are more rugged and fits our terrain...

The Nigerian Airforce should on a similar note... identify and engage with local investors, companies, and engineers... who have developed innovative solutions to total radar coverage, aircrafts fabrication...
