Na your likes Wizkid dey pull his legs. Wizkid wasn't even involved in that conversation initially. It was his supporters who claimed that and Seun started dragging him after since |

helinues:oh well.. the optics doesn't look good though. I suggest Wizkid makes a statement to clarify.. ![]() |

Kemetian:Even Wizkid parents will reject that. You can see it's pulling of legs |

Kemetian:I'm not even trying to compare both... But this concert isn't even up to half of O² Arena.... Both of them are legends in their own generation |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Kemetian(op): 5:48am On Feb 08 |
Clairvoyancy:That's 1978. There was no O² Arena then. It's not about size, huge glamour, big gold chains and ferrari. It's about talent and artistry. |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Clairvoyancy: 6:07am On Feb 08 |
Kemetian:Even at that, I still believe Fela gave his generation what they wanted and Wizkid is doing same likewise... Fela pulled huge crowd cos of his lyrics, guts, lifestyle, and knowledge of music... His music is still relatable cos the government of Nigeria is still bad till date , trust me, if Africa could match up with other continents, I bet Fela style of music will sound irritating to newer generations, except for few people who are up to date with history... Wiz on the other hand, people love him not really because he understood music 🎵, but his melodious voice got a lot of his fans captivated, couple with his lifestyle and aura.. Just like Fela, as the world evolves and new generation emerges, his style of music also fades away.... But both will stand the test of time before they eventually fades away... No doubt |

Clairvoyancy:I don’t know why people keep insisting that Fela’s music was all about anti government themes. In reality, only about 30% of his songs were politically charged. The majority were party or social tracks songs like Lady, Expensive Shit, Shakara, Open & Close, Yellow fever,....etc He had a vast catalog beyond politics, and even artists like Wizkid have sampled some of these classics |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Clairvoyancy: 7:05am On Feb 08 |
ruggedtimi:You are actually right here... But the arguments is focused on type of his songs that gave him fame, not even the fame per say, but that legendary status people placed on him... |

Fela and wiz kid aren't on same league... Fela was an international artist and stood shoulder to shoulder with big names like Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, James Brown, Curtis Mayfield etc. ( I don't want to mention names like beetles, Elvis Presley - fela was maybe slightly lower) These were the biggest artists during his era. African contemporaries include names like hugh masekelo, Miriam makeba, Franco luabo etc. If it was football that's like division one. In today's music Wizkid can't be said to be a major player in division one internationally. Not just because he was able to fill up the 02 arena. I'm not taking anything from Wizkid but if I was to grade him using the football system I would say he is one of best or a star player in the third league division. Even burna boy rates higher than Wizkid in my books and would be in the 2nd division. So while fela might have played in maybe an average or even a low rated team in the first division. Wizkid would play for a third division top rated team and is even a star player for his team. That's just an analogy to explain it better. But bottom line is both fela and wiz kid even though created impacts in music in their own unique, different and diverse ways can never be mates nor played on the same stage and as some have said. It's even an insult to compare both of them! |

I hate it when people just create analogies based on personal thoughts and preferences, leaving aside actual numbers, facts and records... I call it fabricated thoughts.. Most of you guys are saying one thing, maybe influenced by your preference, but reality is saying otherwise.... Those that are rated above Wizkid are rated by people that doesn't matter when it concerns music, but organisations or people that truly matters musically are giving wiz his flowers.... Numbers don't lie.... Musical artiste with the most awards is Wizkid, even more than the so called Fela, and yet people still try to water down his impact musically.... Lol... Well, numbers don't lie |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by brain54(m): 8:51am On Feb 08*. Modified: 9:12am On Feb 08 |
Awards weren't even a thing during the older era... How many awards do the biggest ever artists have? Names like Bob Marley, Presley and even the biggest groups or bands like beetles had few awards. These are some of the biggest music legends ever. Most of the awards they now have are posthumous awards. Given more recently. Awards is the worst metric for measurement. Sometimes numbers lie or don't present an accurate picture. How can you compare numbers back then in the 60s or 70s with numbers now with the advent and wide reach of the Internet? Maybe, some don't understand the power the Internet has. Comparing 70s numbers to the numbers of the 2000s when we have Internet when someone can sit in their room make music and people would listen anywhere in the world... no be juju be that? In an era where speed darlington would get more numbers to an era where the standard of music was high, crude and Brutal? |

Kemetian:Trying to explain to a dumbo will get you exhausted. In 30 years time, how many people will listen to Wizkid’s songs? Now imagine the relevance of Fela, before and after his death. |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Clairvoyancy: 9:35am On Feb 08 |
Lol.... The first paragraph is a blatant lie.... Google is your friend... Talking about the eras both legends reigned, I already said both shouldn't be compared cos there are many factors that will make it difficult to put both stats head to head... But one thing is certain, considering the zeal we all witnessed in the journey of Wiz to stardom, I can confidently tell you he would have still be successful during the Fela era, cos he would definitely follow the trend of demand from the then listeners.... |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Inspirer1: 10:01am On Feb 08 |
mightyhaze:His and his teams ability to use that much musical instruments is quite rare and unique! Doing that for several minutes and getting attention caught and sustained with it can't be compared with any musician alive in Nigeria today! |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Omoawoke(m): 10:37am On Feb 08 |
Clairvoyancy:You are saying both will stand the test of time , hahahahha Do you know Fela music has already stood the test of time? Fela died 28 years ago and you are still arguing about him today. You are comparing raw art with auto tune ? How many musical instruments can Wizkid play? You are comparing originality to digital voice and sampled music. If Fela had existed this generation, with the kind of talents he has…. He would have totally buried the likes of Wizkid and make them his backup dancers 😂 Oga, better wake up from your delusions.. There’s a reason the world global stars still listen to Fela to sample their own music. There’s a reason Hollywood still use Felas music for their movies Please wake up and stop delusions…. Wizkid is good, But there’s zero room for comparison with Fela … Saying they are great in their own ways is still arrogance and pure delusions |

Kemetian:Thank you. Educate the illiterate quoting Wizkid as legend. Ask him any positive impact Wizkid song has had in his life now, he will start mentioning big yansh and breast. But listen to Fela, a Legend whose songs has strong positive impacts to anyone who listens it till date. Well, I won't doubt if that boy is a Genz, there's how they think. |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Omoawoke(m): 10:44am On Feb 08 |
Clairvoyancy:Fela conquered his own generation and still conquering 27 years after his death… It is Wizkid that we should be praying remains relevant in the next 5 years while he is still alive. He hasn’t even resigned and how many Wizkid songs is still relevant today? Wizkif is still alive and not a single one of his album made it into the Grammy hall of fame, imagine Fela’s album “Zombie” from an era of no auto tune still making it into the hall of fame.. if Fela was in this generation, he would have won at least 10 Grammy awards and that’s no joke… As at now, Wizkid is old glory ! Stop speaking grammar thinking it would make your argument smart… because it’s completely dead on arrival.. |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Omoawoke(m): 10:50am On Feb 08 |
Lifeless101:Being Gen Z is not an excuse for stupidity and ignorance .. It’s just an indication of a failed society, parenting and personal laziness not to know Fela… It’s poor education … how many of us were born during Felas prime? But we still understood what good music is and took our time to learn from the past. You don’t have to be born during the times of legend but proper education and personal curiosity should make one learn and remember their impacts. Why would someone say they don’t know people like Mohammed Ali, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Fela, Martin Luther king… most especially as a black person? It is a thing of shame not something to claim Gen Z |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Clairvoyancy: 11:05am On Feb 08 |
Omoawoke:Look at how you just by your own self displayed your ignorance..... You need to go and understand what "Hall of Fame" means first, maybe I can then engage with you.... Fela still conquering? Lol.... You people don't work with facts, that's my problem with you guys.... When last did you yourself listened to Fela's music? How many people listens to his music today? I don't want assumptions, I want real facts... Let's go to Apple music, Spotify, Audiomack, Boom play, etc .. and let's see what we have ... Please you have know reasonable arguments at all ... |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Omoawoke(m): 11:05am On Feb 08 |
Clairvoyancy:Stop this talk now!!! Wizkid does not have more real Grammy recognition than Fela, his only Grammy link is as a featured act on a Beyoncé project, while Fela has Grammy Hall of Fame recognition (Zombie) and a Special Merit (Lifetime Achievement) award. You’re comparing feature credit inside another person’s win to permanent institutional honours, that’s not “numbers”, that’s ignorance. Fela created a genre and a global cultural movement; Wizkid is successful inside an industry that already exists.. |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Omoawoke(m): 11:10am On Feb 08 |
Clairvoyancy:Ignorance is tha you!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Chai! You need education The real people that matter in music are the ones other great musicians still study and sample decades later and that is Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. Even Beyoncé openly acknowledged Fela’s influence on her African-inspired work, and Burna Boy has repeatedly built and referenced his sound from Fela’s legacy. Even the Wizkid was sampling Fela ![]() So let me ask you one simple, question: how many serious global artists have sampled or rebuilt their music around Wizkid the way they do Fela? Popularity gives streams. Originality gives blueprints. Fela is still the bluepr |

Omoawoke:I have identify your problem already, it's left to you to update yourself and the way you think.... If Fela should sing those music he sang back then, I swear portable will easily flop him.... You don't work with reality.... Like you yourself mentioned, Fela should be thanking the new cats like wiz and the rest for sampling majority of his already forgotten songs.... I ask you again, before the whole Seun and Wiz saga, when last did you listen to Fela? Keep deceiving yourself |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by brain54(m): 11:13am On Feb 08 |
Omoawoke:They are people you would never convince... Because of their level of understanding and unwillness to change their line of thinking. Some others just for the sake of winning an argument will pull out strange facts. It's better to identify such people and not waste your time arguing with them even when you have a superior argument. As it is nothing you say to that man will make he change his mind no matter the facts you present to him! |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Omoawoke(m): 11:15am On Feb 08 |
Clairvoyancy:First , Hall of Fame is not popularity. It is historical significance. That is why Fela Anikulapo-Kuti is inducted, because his recordings permanently changed music history. It is not a chart. It is an archive of cultural impact. Now your streaming argument is childish. Of course Wizkid has more streams today, he is a current pop artist. Fela died in 1997. Streaming measures who is trending, not who built the sound. Here is the question you cannot answer: How many major artists have sampled, rebuilt or structured their sound around Wizkid’s music? Would Wizkid be relevant in the next 5 years Do you even have the mental capacity to understand this argument? Because argument can exposed ones level of IQ and I am beginning to question yours seriously |

brain54:Some arguments I won’t leave oo someone cannot insult a god like Fela and I will keep quietAura for aura, Egusi for Egusi… if he talk say he no get sense, I will go low till we find oil I want to make “it” look so stupid till he find that oil he’s looking for .. we are locked in |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by brain54(m): 11:21am On Feb 08 |
Omoawoke:Going by his streaming argument... I haven't checked the records but an artist like speed darlington may currently have more streams than fela... because he is a more current artist. I guess that makes him a better or bigger artist than fela ![]() You have time I don't waste my time with some kind of arguments boss! |
| Re: I Can't Believe Wizkid Compared Himself To This GENIUS - Fela Concert In Berlin by Omoawoke(m): 11:23am On Feb 08 |
Clairvoyancy:At this pont, you are only exposing how shallow your thinking is… you are judging a genre-founder from the 1970s with TikTok-era hype logic. That’s like using Instagram likes to evaluate physics research Fela is still being sampled, referenced and structurally copied by serious musicians today. That is what people who actually understand music look at. And I’m not deceiving myself, I still listen to Fela up till tomorrow and many others still listens to him around the world… just the soundtracks alone are sufficient to enjoy a long drive… Now answer one clean question instead of dodging: How many major artists have rebuilt their sound around Wizkid the way musicians keep rebuilding around Fela? |

Kemetian:Felas music is spiritual…. My favorites Beast of no nation—— that music is black DNA awakenings, the soundtrack and lyrics is like planting a seed of consciousness in the DNA Unknown soldier—- the repetitive rhythm is from another realm… be like person wan enter trance. Raw African energy forged into music Sorrows, tears and blood … that intro soundtrack is sad and repetitive… the sad state of the black man Coffin for head of state—- again, rhe repetitive rhythm shows Felas soundtrack was invented for god mode Army arrangement—- that repetitive rhythms again , like trance calling Zombie—- funny lyrics, sad reality, raw energy blended together and yet very sweet (he lost his mother for it) |
