(And I’m not deceiving myself, I still listen to Fela up till tomorrow and many others still listens to him around the world… just the soundtracks alone are sufficient to enjoy a long drive)… You are actually, ok let's accept you and few others do, what are the numbers compared to today's ratings? You combined with the few others you mentioned worldwide, you all didn't total up to a significant numbers that can be noted by all known streaming platforms, so? (How many major artists have rebuilt their sound around Wizkid the way musicians keep rebuilding around Fela?).... Ok I asked you too, during Fela's prime, how many of his contemporaries or even upcoming emulates his style? Meaning it was after his demise people starts imitating him... |

Serious artists who have publicly built on, sampled, reworked or structurally referenced Fela’s sound include: Burna Boy, Questlove, Erykah Badu, and even Beyoncé openly credited Afrobeat and Fela’s legacy as part of the creative foundation of her African-inspired work. Those are not bloggers but musicians and producers. |
