@ EquityM, thank you so much for your response on Cardinalstone Equity fund,
I already have almost all my investment domiciled with them because i like and believe so much in their management capacity and track record.
Re: Equity Investment. by Nobody: 5:01pm On Feb 07
Yes, something shady is going on.

Gratefulme:
I invested 200k to zenith equity on Jan 13. Right now I'm at 206,567k. What's more annoying is i dont even see how the money grows. Like the way CD updates % everyday. Might try the imaan or Ethical out.

Cs fixed income fund having 4% ytd is the highest I've seen. Others aren't even up to 2% yet. And with no minimum holding period. Amazing

Edit: minimum holding period of 90 days.

I have not been able to add fund over a month I downloaded the cs alpha.

I have clicked 'Tap to try again' several times on the landing page, the error keeps showing as captured in the second image

Re: Equity Investment. by Nobody: 3:30am On Feb 08
Update your tax ID, bro. Delete the app and download it again; they just rolled out a new update. Nevertheless, if it is still not working, sign in using the web option.

You can buy it today; that is fine. During the week, watch out for the NAV before buying.

See ARM. I don't know how this ytd % differs. Its confusing. BTW the shariah/halal fixed income seems to be higher than regular fixed income across all fund managers.

Re: Equity Investment. by Nobody:
Annualized yield is different from YTD. The YTD is the year-to-date return, meaning the period starting from the first day of the current calendar or fiscal year (e.g., Jan 1) up to the present date, while annualized returns project performance over a full 12-month period based on partial data. So YTD is for the current return, and "annualized" means yearly return. For any growth investment, choose YTD.

Gotcha thank you. Any thoughts on the halal funds
Re: Equity Investment. by Nobody:
I am not sure about it, as it does not yield aggressively like equity. It's a moderate investment, like a balanced fund; however, give it a go to see how it works.

There are halal options for all mutual fund classes. I noticed they outperformed the regular funds in their classes last year. That arm halal balanced fund closed at 54% ytd for 2025 while other balanced funds closed below 50% ytd. It even outperformed some regular equity funds like Ucap equity. For actual halal equity funds, stanbic Imaan fund closed with 84% ytd in 2025 and outperformed almost all the regular equity funds. I think only Halo equity fund beat it. Of course, past performance isn't a guarantee of future performance but they're doing well now.
Re: Equity Investment. by playces: 12:22pm On Feb 08
So which one is best to invest on equity fund. Cs I use stanbic too.

I have CS for fixed income now. Is CS better and more transparent than that stanbic for equity fund

I can't really say for now, as monthly performance does not beat the yearly performance; nevertheless, check the SEC Excel file for the best-performing equity fund managers in January. I'm currently using Zrosk; however, they are working on their website for now.

Can u share source of the bolded?
I don't think the 84% represent the entire year, probably just a short term period with high volatility & that doesn't mean halal equity outperformed the regular equity fund.

EquityM just posted the link to the sec site for the weekly valuation updates for all mutual funds in nigeria. Bookmark it.

I'm liquidating my stanbic mmf, I'll try Imaan with some change and see. Just terrible stanbic don't show their ytd. They only show price of a unit
Re: Equity Investment. by LoriHamo: 3:54pm On Feb 08
I will try Imaan too
I intend liquidating this week too

Their MMF is no more fit for purpose....

I really wanted to stick around but the whole thing is still nosediving.....Stanbic is big enough.....does it mean their fund managers are failing or what?

Stanbic show their ytd on their asset management fund pages.

https://www.stanbicibtcfundsmanagement.com/invest-now-dw6gy99x

Click on "view fund analysis" of the fund you're interested in. It will take you to that particular fund page and you can see the ytd, the 1 year % change and the 5 year % change. It's updated daily during the week after trading hours.

I never knew halal type of equity could yield this much. I thought it was even the restricted version based on Sharia compliance on investment.

My GTB Equity Feb 2nd was ₦10,183,016 by the end of the trading week Feb 6th ₦10,343,514. Is this interest gross or net?
Re: Equity Investment. by Nobody: 9:55pm On Feb 08
That is the total weekly gains made from the market. There is no gross or net interest in equity; gains earned are based on the daily performance of the stock market.

Omo, Equity is sweet o. Such huge gains made in just one week. Less than one week gain in equity equals one month gain in money market fund

Same way such huge losses can also be made in one week. One day even. That's equity for you.

It's a game of risk. Although fortune will always favour the bold. Think long term.
Re: Equity Investment. by Nobody: 12:00am On Feb 09
That's true; Spartacus can wipe the gains in one day. However, staying calm and long-term resilience brings good results in the long run.
