Even mad man in the street will not call road construction waste of money?
Re: Ondo Ogun Section Of Lagos Calabar Coastal High Way by freemanq(m):
Even u as a mad man on naira land knows that the project will not be completed even in 10 years. Mad men on the street of Nigeria knows that many federal Highway are almost if not completely washoff and there's not plan to maintain to them in the next 10 years. A word is enough for the wise .

It's not a waste of money - it's a misplaced priority

it is not misplaced priority. Learn to think for yourself and not influenced by opposition politicians. The government is fixing other FG roads. Constructing new road and fixing old ones are not mutually exclusive. The coastal road will also create far more prosperity and convenience(happening already) for many others than disruption to some.

Oga, what I think about that road has nothing to do with the opposition. If the 15 trillion or so is invested in the power sector, it will yield 50x the value of the useless coastal road to the Nigerian economy.

There can never be industrial revolution without power. It's a shame that a country of 230 million people distribute 5k megawatts in 2026. This has always been the position of this moniker.

There are ongoing investments in the power sector, and by the way improving power sector does not start and end with throwing money on it. Legal and regulatory frameworks in the power sector are very important victories. Your state governors can now choose to provide you power across the chain. Nigetia is still subsidising power, at least if you are not on Band A. Simplistic arguments like 15 trillion will be spent in a single annual budget on the road is not necessary.

Stop writing trash. There are 36 states and FCT in Nigeria. Since Tinubu and Buhari handed power generation, distribution and transmission to state governors, how many of them are building power projects?

FYI, state governors won't invest in power sector because they lack the financial capacity to do that. You expect them to pour entire state IGR and allocations on such projects. Besides, they all want to invest in short-term projects.

If we had some reasonable people in this government, that 15 trillion would be used to encourage governors to invest in power in their respective states through counterpart funding, thereby making it easy for them.

FG finances 55% of every power project in the state, while governors provide 45% and hold stakes based on the percentage contributed. Private players can also participate and have their stake. This is common sense - something that's obviously elusive in this administration. Little wonder they are wasting all that money on a useless coastal road.

how the boldened makes sense to you eludes me?? you can't give what you don't have though. Let me humour your not productive thought process, and tell the state governors to use the phantom 45% of stake funding to provide 45% of power capacity to serve their electorates. Imagine claiming your governors can't provide power because they cant afford it........ Au revoir, waste of time continuing with you.

All we are asking from you is to be making use of the smart in your monikers name.

That's what you think and your point of view. Why didn't Obi invest in Power generation when he was Anambra gov and reap the benefits. Is it governments duty to invest in power or private sector? Why can't Obi invest in power as a business man and reap more profit? How much profit is Barth Nnaji making now from his Geometric Power pkant. If we look now you might not be paying proper electricity bill and you want Tinubu to invest 15Trillion. Nah your Nairaland comments Dem go use pay investors money back? Is the unit cost of power in Nigeria the same as South Africa you people like to quote ? Weldone, Arm-chair critic!

Let person hear word. Any wise person knows that they are using this road thing to loot funds massively. Take a look at the already existing Federal roads across the country. They can't even mentain them, but they are constructing another, that won't be completed. As big as you are ,so these old men fit full you?

Are they doing the roads or not even with your acclaimed embezzlement?

Other past presidents, what did they do with funds in their possession because if they had done majority of the roads, this government would have channelled their energy on something else

When buhari was borrowing to construct 2nd Niger bridge non of the S.E came out to criticize the construction as misplaced priority.

There is ongoing badagry to sokoto even obi has not said anything, maybe because of the fear of the North.
