Jakumo:@Jakumo Watch the video I posted right BELOW from November 2024 which shows the United States Government raising a huge alarm about the rise of ISIS in West Africa posing a danger to the United States homelands. I earlier posted this on NL back in 2024. Indeed, the United States has advanced knowledge of what's going on for years in West Africa and the United States and her European allies such as France are responsible for the emergence of insecurity in the West African Sahel region due to their removal and elimination of the former Linyan leader Muamar Gaddafi. This led to a deeper Civil War in Libya and the spread of weapons from Libya into the West African black market and into the hands of jihadi groups who ALSO now use surveillance drones purchased from illicit funds from their terror attacks. This is the deeper ramification that a lot of these random posters online do NOT know about. It's good the United States is getting involved NOW to correct their past mistakes and they MUST be supported. @Jakumo, here's another revealing video from the United States right BELOW about the JNIM jihadi terror gang which is currently in control of more than half of Burkina Faso finding "safe haven" in Ghana. So, this is NOT a Nigerian or a problem caused by President 'Bola Tinubu, BUT an entire West African regional problem. This is why as of January 2013, former President Goodluck Jonathan sent Nigerian troops to Mali to assist France and Mali in fighting the JNIM jihadi groups there because he said without dealing with the Mali jihadists, Nigeria will NOT be safe and he was right: 1] Reports: Al-Qaeda-linked Burkina Faso Terrorists (JNIM) Finding "Safe Haven" in Ghana | Firstpost Africa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLg4pslCI5o?si=J6F7ZRaRw3B-uFVF | US Warns of ISIS Rising in West Africa | US counterterrorism officials have flagged a new terror threat. The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, may be rearing its ugly head again. It may return with a new caliphate. But this time, the location might be in West Africa. The Sahel region is a terror hotspot. Countries like Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger have been dealing with Al Qaeda and the Islamic State for about a decade. And these terror groups are steadily making gains. American officials fear that they could capture territory and use it to launch attacks on Europe and even the US mainland. The MAJOR jihadist group in Burkina Faso is: The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) OR in Arabic language it's known as Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimeen (JNIM). 2] Terrorism Spreading From Burkina Faso to Northern Benin =>https://www.voanews.com/a/terrorism-spreading-from-burkina-faso-to-northern-benin/6920282.html 3] Official: Jihadis Abduct 50 Women in Burkina Faso =>https://www.voanews.com/a/official-jihadis-abduct-50-women-in-burkina-faso-/6920972.html At least 50 women were abducted by Islamic extremists in Burkina Faso’s northern Sahel region last week, a local official said Monday. The kidnappings occurred January 12 and 13, 2023 approximately 15 kilometers (9 miles) from the town of Arbinda in Soum province, Lt. Col. P.F. Rodolphe Sorgho, the governor of Sahel, said in a statement. The women were kidnapped while in the countryside gathering wild fruit, he said. Jihadi violence linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group has overrun Burkina Faso, killing thousands and displacing nearly 2 million people in the West African nation. The failure of successive governments to stop the fighting has caused widespread discontent and triggered two military coups in 2022, the second against the first military regime to seize power. |

AlphaTaikun:This professional-grade video clip tracing of the ISIS expansionist agenda in West Africa is bound to make the list of pertinent information that full-time Pentagon intelligence analysts are meticulously compiling as they fine-tune the US military response that is now CERTAIN to prove definitive over the coming months when Uncle Sam ratchets up his long-awaited high-tech response to the global threat to peace that is incubating across the West African seaboard at this very moment. Alpha Taikun, your grasp of current events bedeviling West Africa today, is rare and copiously researched. I tip my hat to you sir, for this modest contribution of historical context that you have quietly tendered in furtherance of lasting peace not only in Nigeria and West Africa, but GLOBALLY. |

AlphaTaikun:It is always great to see another writer who joined Nairaland way back in the stone age when Oga Seun first created this online community. Man, it is scary to see how fast two decades sped by as though on fast forward. I raise a toast to another two decades of sharing thoughts about Nigeria aboard the Nairaland train. |

The biggest mistake any Nigerian president will make is to allow a U.S. military base in Nigeria. |

Jakumo:You said "stone age." That cracked me up over here. ![]() Indeed, It's gonna be 21 years as of March 2026 since I started using NL. It gives me some goose pimples as well when I think about it. This is my alternate account which I had to switch to when this poorly configured new NL AI bot started deleting some of my posts without commiting any infractions. The only reason why I stayed on is because of the monochrome green layout of NL and the FACT that I've always liked the use of discussion forum formats like that of Allen Says, and more since the 1990s. We keep truckin'... To our success. Cheers again! |
