Good morning great people. Please I have a question and it's not about solar but related. I live in a compound with 3 separate occupants. Only one unit currently has an electricity meter due to meter scarcity from the DisCo. Is it possible to setup a system where the other two units are connected to the metered supply, pay the metered supply based on the DisCo rate and only get to use the amount paid for? Also what's the typical cost implication if possible. |

dollarnaira:this is my night load, infact I rearly do 5% most evening with the TV and fridge on cos they are all energy efficient. My inverter LG refrigerator is 80w, my 50" sony smart with external power adapter is 65w. My qasa dc ceiling fans rearly hit 20w on max speed. And that's a 4.2kva inverter with it's fans shouting like what I don't know.

Precept:It is possible, all the tenants need to get an energy meter each. It will be programmed in a way that you only consume the number of kwh you paid for. It is one of the tenants that will be in charge of the devices. Look for DIY with Ray on tiktok he sells the device. It is N32,000.00 each back then, i don't know how much he sells it now. |

fuckboys:Open up ur Inverter and disconnect the fan pending when you get a replacement. OR You can add a switch to it and turn on when heavy loads are needed. |

dollarnaira:Atimes, I get tired trying to make them see things differently. mayBe it's best to just let them spend that money. To me, even that 700,000 naira is too much BUT they prefer listening to those who tell them what they wanna hear |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 11:22am On Feb 10 |
fuckboys:That your Tv probably could run with 12v. Same with the DC ceiling Fan. As for the inverter's fan, if it's no longer on warantee, or you don't care, add a switch so you switch it off anyTime you feel disturbed. You could even use something to automate it. Before the above, check somewhere in the manual or settings to see if it could be modified via settings. Another mayBe to relocate said inverter to a place it's noise wouldn't get to you |

lekanherr:Thank you |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by fuckboys: 12:27pm On Feb 10 |
bassdow:The fan has 4 wires one of those wire must be sensor wire, putting a switch to shut down the fan must trip an error code for sure. And it's still on warranty which I don't care about, my mental health is more important than the useless warranty. I'll take the inverter to arena on Saturday to see what they can do about it. |

lekanherr:@valto also sells it |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by favouredbymercy: 12:32pm On Feb 10 |
capnies:The normal souer 1000w with inbuilt 10amp charger msw Inverter (I get am before now)...I discovered that the souer inverter does not stop charging at 14.6v. So voltage regulation (overcharge/overdischarge) would be manually monitored. |

Abeg house I have been seeing ads of used 2.5kwh pylontech batteries on jiji and Facebook marketplace. Are they worth it? Pros and cons? Real-life experience? Thanks in advance. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by HeavenlyBang(m): 2:06pm On Feb 10 |
Tdoctor:Better off buying a battery built by any of Mrreed, Valto, or isangjohnson. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by fuckboys: 2:09pm On Feb 10 |
ajabani4allah:most Sony smart 4k tvs uses external power adapter. |

I won’t be going to arena anymore, I think I will diy with this. This is the best solution imo. Ordered 2 already

capnies:No laptops except in exceptional cases. Just paid for a jinko panel today , haven't picked it up, trying to pay for a 200ah cworth battery. Someone said 390k, my contact in alaba said 400k. The issue I'm having now is how and where to get a good sachet used inverter or hybrid ( because after helping out , I'll like to face my life without much interference about these from my sis) that's affordable. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by dollarnaira(m): 4:02pm On Feb 10 |
Seunmuham:HenryLifepo4 200ah is around 354k 300ah is 442k |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Seunmuham: 4:09pm On Feb 10 |
dollarnaira:Aside from price sir, does it have good reviews, personally and from others. Secondly boss, where can I look for it |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by capnies: 4:36pm On Feb 10 |
fuckboys:All original Sony tvs atleast I know from 40" uses external adopters. But you'll need boost converter |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Unfaized: 4:57pm On Feb 10 |
fuckboys:Before you install check if the inverter has one installed. Coz mine came with it that's why the fan only comes up when needed. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by fuckboys: 5:15pm On Feb 10 |
Unfaized:I will bypass it if it has or remove it outrightly if I can. When it comes I must surely know what to do. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by prince4pro2(m): 5:15pm On Feb 10 |
Can a charge controller limit the amount of power coming from the PV maybe because of battery chemistry? Using 100ah LA battery for example |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Gshems: 5:46pm On Feb 10 |
prince4pro2:let me guess, you are getting stuck at 300watt when with a full sun and big panel? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Obnoxious2001(m): 6:53pm On Feb 10 |
fuckboys:No stress your self the best option remains to buy a real brushless fan. If you decide to remove the fan, it will affect the inverter. The inverter is designed such that it receives signals from the fan (around 5v). It's through that signal is able to tell when a fan is connected or not. It seem lot of folks are complaining about the fan noise, there should be a way out anyway. Experiments and give us feedback anyway ![]() |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by prince4pro2(m): 7:03pm On Feb 10 |
Gshems:Exactly. Stucked at highest of 400w on a very good sunny day? On top say I get big panels. A supposed 1260 PV 420wx3 |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valto(m): 7:14pm On Feb 10 |
12v 4.2kwh lifepo4 lithium battery 475k/500k/530k, (depends on bms used)
