Alcohol is not a contraband… nafdac never said they wanted to prevent pple from drinking…. Thats revenue drop ooooo….. its more about controlling children’s access…
Exactly that is why stopping alcohol abuse by satchet holds no water, since when i was a child people don dey abuse alcohol get drunk .... long before satchet was introduce

Nafdac stop satchet does not mean people wont get drunk orijin/action bitters plastic nkor ? can't or won't children have access to it

In my own time as teenagers, macdowell, 501, ponche, calypso, were in bottles ... e no stop us we drank school parties, birthdays we buy nobody chase us out

You're ignorant. It's NAFDAC that has been helping them to stay till now and already been accused of enabling the public health nuisance the uncontrolled access to sachet alcohol is causing.

The SGF is obviously running his own agenda as it's clear that Federal Government has not stopped it.

NAFDAC has bigger issues and more lucrative sectors than small-scale merchants profiting from a social nuisance.

The SGF is a politician and being economical by suggesting that he's speaking for the Federal Government. He should go to Kano, Zamfara, Kebbi etc and go enforce his own version of alcohol policy since he claims to be speaking for FGN. Smh.

NAFDAC and the Ministry of Health called his bluff in December, this is February, they will still call his bluff again.

The policy didn’t ban alcohol production but insists that it must be from 200ml and above. NAFDAC will not issue license for any product that doesn't conform and anyone producing unlicensed product is committing a crime that the SGF cannot provide cover for.

The SGF, Senator George Akume, had similar problem with his Benue State Governor. He wants to override during process for political gain. He will not succeed in this one.

Ban of sachet alcohol has come to stay and instruments of the law enforcement and regulation will be used to hold everyone to account.
"Ban of sachet alcohol has come to stay", said by a nairaland clown 🤡

Who is that person in the ministry of health that pushed for the stoppage of this?

NAFDAC says something is bad for human consumption, the FG says make them go on soun

As how naa.. grin
..if it's bad for human consumption let them also ban the bottled alcohol also..not only satchet alcohol

What a joke. First of all NAFDAC can't possibly enforce age access laws. This is a country where 15-16 year old kids have voters card and participate in elections, talk less of buying alcohol.
Yes they can.. sellers will be mandated to ask for ID and also profile kids they feel arent up to 21 years old with doctored ID cards… this is the standard everywhere… nigeria is too slack with alcohol control……
NAFDAC does this successfully with pharmacy for control drugs like diazepam, codein, tramadol…… they use decoy customers to ask for these drugs under control list….once one or two pple fall for it and get arrested, everybody will lock up sharppaly

.there is doctored ID everywhere sir… even abroad thats why sellers are expected to profile kids even when they bring ID but they look like less than 21 years old

Razzness:
And if you think children can't afford 1,500 or 2,500 for alcohol, then you don't know children of nowadays. Same children that are now spending thousands of naira to buy different grades of weed and drugs.
Those who will drink will drink, in fact, bottle alcohol will even make them more indulgent.
Which bottle of alcohol is 1500?? Everything is expensive now ooooo… Of course some will still drink……..still there is no how access will not significantly reduce for kids if sachets are off the streets…

Congratulations to Nigerians

NAFDAC was only after their selfish interest.

This is a time when we are promoting local manufacturers to boost the economy and you want to kill these local manufacturers to give room for imported drinks to flood the country.

The way you are talking am sure you didn't grow up or live in Nigeria.

So you think Agbo sellers, local kiosk owners, and road side vendors etc, a lot of whom may not even be formally educated, will be the ones asking or profiling those under 21.

The diazepam, tramadol and codeine you are talking about, if you want 100 packs today-today you will get it, in fact they can even do home delivery for you, with just a phone call.

See… there will always be exceptions and pple who break laws… thats doesn't mean there shouldn't be safety laws….
Try and enter any pharmacy in nigeria and ask for those drugs i listed… no one will sell it to you …unless they know u… that to tell u the laws work and reduce access … but of course not 100percent because there will always be law breakers
I have already told u… once one or two pple get arrested everybody will straighten up because seller will be afraid nafdac decoy shoppers are everywhere.

This agbo/concortion sellers are even the easiest… task force will just start arresting them on the street… u wont see any of them again…..

I wonder why a vast majority of Nigerian men and a minority of our women are such lovers of these dizzgusting sachet alcoholic drinks.
Like... what's the taste that they enjoy it and subject their livers and mouths to such bitter, harsh semi-chemicals.?

Sachet alcoholic.... the drink for local and slightly local people.
How can I be buying what would cause me harm, little by little. Beats me.😄

Give me one good reason that a citizen, an upright one who is refined will want to sell or consume alcohol in nylon or sachet? undecided

It was the South West NURTW branch of government that pushed for this executive order cool

If you know . . . you just have to keep knowing 😏
Hope you know there are many things they use it for especially combining with local herbs
