That's not enough o, because it amounts to N440 per inmate per day if their math is done properly. At least make it N600 per day, that's N300 for two shapeless meals in a day. Then make use of the workforce in the prison

If you divide it by 365.. that's N446 per day per inmate..

If you factor in corruption that would take at least 75% of this amount.. each inmate only gets 100 per day.. you see the reason for the watery beans everyday?!

Moral of the story: stay away from crime ⚠️ that would put you in a Nigerian Prison for one day.

If you are outside, bad as e bad, if your legitimate hustle fetches you 1k per day as profit or wages.. that is 365,000 per year.. it's better than being incarcerated behind bars and one government official is buying a new jeep on your head while you waste away..🤔🤔

91,000 is a lot ooo. If government can just engage this population in agriculture, they will contribute meaningfully to the food productions in the country.

Is like you don't understand mathematics , that 14.8b is appropriate 162k per prisoner, about #500 per day. Na premium suffering for prisoners in Nigeria.

How did they arrive at the budget for feeding at 14bn
Normally it should be around that 445 per day feeding if they claim they arrive at 14bn

Why keep people in prison all years without them working with hard labour or working on something meaningful so when they are free they will have something to do than go back to their crime

The warders need to upgrade in their thinking
We the government need to upgrade too everyone is running after their pocket which on the long run will cost us more harm than safety

In the UK, this can only feed 6,750 inmates in a year. To be in prison in Nigeria can be likened to hell fire.

ThIs means that this N14.83b cannot feed 91,000 prisoners in a month in the UK.

Less than 500 per inmate daily, this is too bad, how can a prisoner be fed daily with just 445 naira. Our prisons aren't correctional facilities but awaiting death facilities. If we can't feed our prisoners fairly well, we should fashion out a system that can make them work and earn some money to augment their ration. Being an inmate in our prison is tantamount to being punished with a slow death. Killing dem prisoners softly

You need to claim down before you write. Neither the government nor the prison wardens have the right to give hard or forced labour to any prisoner. Only the courts reserve such rights. There is something we call separation of power and the rule of law.

Hopefully, that number (91k) doesn’t include ghost prisoners. Trust Nigerian Civil Service leaders at your peril.
Also, economy of scale (purchasing large quantities and inmate labour) should make the cost per meal + snacks to be about #100.
