(CANDID OPINION - The purpose of getting the numbers across to INEC Headquarters, is to file them and present them as final results but a lot of energy is spent on the process because of past experiences. Truth be told that even with either method of distribution, there will still be one controversy to another.

What's the solution?

NONE for now! To satisfy both sides of the argument, let there be transmission of results real-time and paper transfer of results when necessary.

The reason I say this is because: Nigeria hasn't developed to a stage where we can be fully confident with either method. Aside that, the citizens are used to a corrupt culture that makes cooperation and adherence to laws almost unrealistic.

The settling fact that should lay this matter to rest is "accepting the system for what it is". Protests and online arguments won't change the current framework that holds Nigeria yet.

But of course; if you prefer real-time transfer of election results then this is what i recommend as last resort: Given the facts of Nigerian attitudes, poor infrastructure and high population - the population of voters for 2026/2027 election should be reduced to an accommodating figure for an uninterrupted transmission of results. So instead of 30 million voters, the system should have 15 million voters registered to represent the total view of the nation.

I am very sure that there is no system you bring that the losers will not complain. In 2020 following the release of the US election which Trump was defeated, Trump said the election was manipulated. We all know what happened thereafter.
Elon musk was also against electronic voting.

Certainly! Papers are more reliable for election results. A database can be wiped out in minutes too. Papers can still be salvaged.

Nevertheless, both methods have red flags but the country has to conduct an election regardless...

It has to have trust in something.

.what happens when captured results doesn't match paper results

What happens when paper results have cancellation

It is the loophole with our electoral laws that politicians often exploit in court.
The supreme court pass a judgement on the litigation brought to it from the outcome of the 2023 presidential election that the IREV portal is not one of the evidential proof captured by the 2022 electoral law but the form EC8A and what this means is that irrespective of the numbers of winning votes recorded at the collation centre and transmitted to the IREV portal it is not valid by law so the politicians make sure the form EC8A is swap on it way to the collation centre with the aid of INEC officials hence the pressure or advocacies by well meaning Nigerians that electronic transmission of collated result at the polling unit is mandatory and also the primary source of evidential proof in court.

In such case, the results should be nullified.

But If the results have insignificant errors like a 5%-10% mismatch, such errors or mismatch should be "ignored" to save the majority of accurate results.

Realistic point.

There will always be a shortcut for everything; even for legal documents like EC8A and IReV transcripts.

That's why the law is simplifying and trying to simplify a complex matter like the Nigerian Election.

Politicians will still find their way around this. No system is fool proof. Even Peter obi want to rig election against his opponents. We watch and see sha

I am sure many of them will still complain about vote buying when they lost just like Peter Obi said when he lost his unit in Anambra for governorship election. They can never be satisfied. When the results from polling units are transmitted real time and you still lose, please dont come here to cry of vote buying or systems rig you out.
