Kwara Budgets ₦10.3bn For Cars; ₦203M For School Facilities by BlackViper(op): 10:06am On Feb 12
Kwara budgeted ₦10.3 billion for new cars in 2026 and only ₦203m for school facilities.

That’s about 51 times more for vehicles than equipped classrooms in state ranked 34 out of 37 in WAEC.

Last year, Kwara spent ₦3.7bn buying new cars and ₦16 million on school facilities.

Kwara with high level of insecurity?
Cars for government officials and associates no doubt. Some of the cars will be giving out as gifts for loyalists and some for bribery

What do you expect. Politicians children don't attend government schools. The ones who attend schools in Nigeria are in private institutions. Same applies to health.

This is the reality of Nigeria, it's quite unfortunate. I love Nigeria and defend it when speaking with outsiders. But that shouldn't mean we shouldn't tell ourselves the truth. I don't even want to talk about western countries have visited. let's talk about our fellow African countries. their rate of development is scary as compared to Nigeria. We are in a state of Emergency, but unfortunately Political affiliation and lackluster attitude of Nigerians hasn't made us realize this yet. we complain about bad politicians but will still vote them in. even those educated on online forums will come to defend bad governance. This is not even just about the president. Governors, local government chairmen, heads of ministries etc they have all wrecked the country for many years. it will keep getting bad until some day when a revolution unstoppable comes alive, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday it will happen.

This is deeply disappointing and misplaced priority. Allocating ₦10.3 billion for cars while only budgeting ₦203 million for school facilities shows a worrying lack of commitment to the future of our children and the long-term development of the state. Education should be a top priority, especially for a state that consistently ranks low academically. Investing in quality classrooms, books, labs, and teacher support would have far more lasting impact than shiny new vehicles for officials.

Leaders need to lead with long-term vision, not short-term optics. What message does this send to hardworking teachers, students, and parents? The youth deserve better — schools, not SUVs, should be where public money goes first.

Oh nooo water is wet!! I am not surprised one bit.

Nigerian politicians are very corrupt.
It saddens me when people turn it into APC/PDP or Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba; when you ask them, how their local government chairman, or state government is fairing, you will see them start twisting and turning like worm. These same governor and his cabinet will soon find their way to Abuja to continue this madness.

Until the day the masses understand, that the problem is between the elites (corrupt politicians and so called men of God) vs the ordinary Nigerians, that is the day will receive our salvation.

What do you expect, wetin concern Nigerian politicians with public school. Their kid are not even in Nigeria, those in Nigeria attend the best private schools. The vehicle budget is just a camouflage, 70% of that 10billions is for looting

That's the African for you.

How much for ethnic cleansing going on there?

If any of those two coups of January 1966 and Orkar's 1990 succeeded, this country would have had direction by now. In the meantime, these nitwits are holding sway.

This is a misplaced priority, political leaders relegating the future of the youths on the altar of selfishness and greed. If properly questioned, they will lie that it's typo error to cover up this absurdity
