Welcome news.. we hope the Naira can do N1000 even sub-1k before year end.

seunmsg:
I just keep wondering what would have happened to our economy if we had taken Atiku and Peter Obi’s advice to follow the Argentina model. By now, Naira would have been completely worthless and our economy would have been in super depression. We really missed a bullet by voting against those two economic illiterates. In fact, every Nigerian should take some minutes out today to say a prayer of gratitude to president Bola Tinubu.
Don’t mind those fellows.. too emotional to lead.

Naira Strengthens Below N1,350/$ for First Time Since May 2024 – The Business Bureau

Ops,

It’s the dollar that’s losing its value.
President Trump unpredictable economy policies that’s playing into this:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-02-11/what-a-weaker-us-dollar-means-for-the-economy

I’d be glad if the naira improves. For a genuine rebound to happen, there has to be:
1.Boost to domestic production ( less reliance on imported products)
2.Attract foreign portfolio investment.
3.Enhance Security
4.Provide tax break and low- interest loan for local businesses
5.Tightening monetary policies to curb inflation.

Can you be honest that any of this is currently being effectuated?

Just not printing any naira at all will result in a steady increase in the value of the naira

THE PURCHASING POWER OF THE PEOPLE, AND BY EXTENSION THE PROSPERITY OF A NATION, IS TIED TO THE STRENGTH OF THE CURRENCY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS ROOTED IN PRODUCTIVE ACTIVITIES.

WE HOPE THE STRENGTHENING OF THE NAIRA CONTINUES. I PRAY THAT IT IS NOT PURELY A POLITICAL BAIT, STRATEGY, AND MARKETING TO WIN VOTES AS THE GENERAL ELECTIONS APPROACH.

MY SINCERE PRAYER IS THIS:
MAY GOD DEPOSE BAD LEADERS IN A WAY THAT SERVES AS A DETERRENT TO OTHERS, STRENGTHENS THE GOOD LEADERS IN POWER, AND ENPOWERS THE GOOD LEADERS OUT THERE TO MOUNT THEIR THRONES.

UNFEIGNED PATRIOTISM MUST DEFINE LEADERSHIP AND NOT PRIMORDIAL INTERESTS.

Lol. Is our economy not in depression? What was the dollar rate when he took over. I know you will say the naira was being defended but that's the job of the Central Bank and Tinubu is currently doing so. We have also incurred more debt now than under Buhari. Yet, Buhari was defending the naira and paying electricity and fuel subsidies. Where's the money going to? Here is Umahi accusing Wale Edun of failing to release money to his ministry. Several ministers have also been coming out in the past few days to tell us their ministries are underfunded. Meanwhile, we are still implementing 3 budgets concurrently. Propaganda will never take us anywhere.

lol
Are you talking about Buhari...may God bless him...that printed #30 trillion and use our oil to borrow money 5 years upfront?
Please,sir.Let sleeping dogs lie.
What President Tinubu is doing is a total positive reengineering of Nigeria's economy and infrastructures.
May God help all Nigerians and ease all our affairs without remnants.

Buhari was fair enough, at least we knew he failed but the Fulanis and Hausas never go with Propaganda, they accepted it all ....

If we stop importing pms and start exporting our naira would get stronger, as this indicates, it's because of the brief halt in importation of PMS that strengthened the naira.

Federal government should be working with Dangote Oil, instead of wasting money on useless refineries. I wonder why we are so daft.

We are, in a way , following some of Millei's prescriptions...subsidy removal on petrol and floating the local currency. What we are not doing is cutting other subsides, and cutting down on the overbloating in the civil service, national assembly and presidency, among other things.

Also., Argentina was in severely dire straits before Millei.

Tinubu has a lot of work to do...fight corruption, remove power subsides totally, end our reliance on oil for government revenues, and promote industrialization policies.
What you cannot disagree Ruth is the fact that we are in the right track. Everything can’t be done under four years else, there will he a public revolt. In fact, you should be applauding the president for all he has done so far if you are a sincere person. No president before him had dared to remove pms subsidies, float the exchange rate, partially remove subsidies on power and give autonomy to local governments.

By second term, other necessary reforms will follow.

there is notning to see here

election is very close

this is simply Buhari’s playbook

borow to defend the naija

and once election is over

naira crashes to N2,500 to $1

to pay for the borrowing to defend it

And by next election cycle if APC is still in power

Government Borrows again to defend the naira

then in 2031, dollar crashes to $1= N2,000

from N2,500 and lazy Nigerians with

serious Amnesia start singing the praise of

the APC government-

Naira is. now strong, it is $1= N2,000 from

N2,500 to $1 … this is genius

My question is ..

where where did Tinubu meet the naira ? when

Buhari left? N550 to $1 so how is this

progress? yeye data boys displaying quantum

ignorance because of N30k - incentive

ona go hear word - Epin pawa 2.0 is coming

when Tinubu is re-elected .. ona go cry fire

If you want to expand your budget in order to provide infrastructure and other things that can aid in future capital formation then you have to increase the deficit in your budget. Deficit means funding gap which can only be filled with borrowing.

You might decide not to borrow which means shrinking your spending to the size of your income. This simply means make I dey as I dey. An ambitious regime will always borrow because they are looking at providing for the future. To reduce your borrowing without sacrificing the future you have to increase your income through tax.

Our demand should be that every naira borrowed should be judiciously used. Obi's style of locking up money in the bank when there are serious needs for facilities is illiterate economics.

Learn to appreciate good developments.

The exchange rate was being subsidized before Tinubu came on board. The rates you refered to before this regime were fake rates based on subsidy. Did you hear of any exchange rate improvements since 1999? Have you ever read any news of the Naira strongly improving against the dollar as is the case currently?

The current reforms are paying off and a new trajectory is already on our economic horizon. Commend the thinking caps that made this happen.

Argentina is in deep economic shit, yet your ignorant Atiku and Obi asked us to take Argentina as an economic role model.
