2027: ADC Lacks Sensible Leaders Like Tinubu — Baba-Ahmed

Labour Party chieftain and former vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has raised concerns about the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its ability to field a strong candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on the emerging ADC coalition, which is being closely watched as a potential opposition platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Baba-Ahmed questioned the party’s leadership depth, saying it lacks figures with the political experience and influence of leaders like Tinubu or the late President Muhammadu Buhari. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

“They don’t have a Buhari or a Tinubu in the ADC. Tinubu has a lot of sense. They don’t have it in ADC,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed also cautioned that internal disagreements could emerge depending on who secures the party’s presidential ticket.

“If Atiku wins the ADC ticket, others will have a problem with it. If Obi or Amaechi wins the ticket, other candidates will have a problem with it,” he added.

The ADC coalition, which brings together several opposition figures and parties — including former governors Nasir El-Rufai, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar — is positioning itself as a potential contender in the 2027 elections.

Baba-Ahmed’s comments underscore the challenges the coalition could face in uniting behind a single candidate, as it seeks to consolidate its influence ahead of the next general election.

He clearly connived with Wike and Abure to destroy the LP so he can get government patronage for his aviation university. He has been directly and indirectly insulting Obi ever since he left the LP. Datti was with the Abure-camp that has now been delegitimised in favour of the Nenadi-Usman camp. It doesn't matter anyways, Obi is with the ADC and he isn't coming back.

After 2027 APC will crumble. Tinubu can't think it's like lagos that he can control anyhow. Wike by now should be aware his presidency ambition is buried. Hope and umahi want vice president slot.

ADC henchmen all want power. No one wants to bow to the other. After 2014 primaries, everyone worked together for the winner. Although Atiku did not campaign vigorously for Buhari, he did not scuttle Buhari's chances.

Atiku deserves his flowers. No one should ask him to step down. If Atiku wins the ADC ticket, let them work for him. If Nigerians prefer him, he'd get votes. If they do not, he'd retire.

The ADC is just a club of career opportunists, habitual party hoppers and disgruntled politicians desperately trying to resurrect their stalled political careers and keep feasting on power. They have no ideas, no vision, no ideological backbone, to build a developing nation. All they do is repackage failures as performers and turn serial party defectors into “principled” leaders.
