I Have Tried To Send Money Using Peter Obi’s Bank And The Money Has Failed To Get There —Reno Omokri
Aibasnews16 hours ago

Reno Omokri, former presidential spokesman to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and ambassador-designate, continued his remarks on electronic transmission of election results during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

During the exchange, the interviewer asked, “Do you send money to… Do you have anybody in the village, in the remote area where you send money to?”

Responding, Omokri said, “No, no, I’m not going to digress. I’m going to answer the question. I have tried to send money using Peter Obi’s bank and the money has failed to get there. And that money has failed to get reversed.”

He added, “And then the person who did that transaction is here. I can ask him to come here. He made a complaint. And we are still waiting for that money to come back.”

Omokri continued, “This is, this bank prize itself, I’m not going to mention the bank prize itself as having the best internet facility in Africa. And yet they’re having this issue.”

Drawing a broader comparison, he stated, “Now, this bank is not going to be with everybody, but a significant portion, and it’s not just this bank, a lot of banks. So yes, banks do have the capacity for real-time money transfer, but it is not a 100% safe.”

So, Omokri lost money he sent to his village and that's the reason he doesn't want election results transmitted electronically?

I think he should send more money to his village to learn how to ensure it gets there, and then he might see how efficient and effective it might be to electronically transmit election results.

Peter Obi does not own Fidelity bank... Someone should please draw Reno's attention to it: https://www.nairaland.com/8617075/debunking-claim-peter-obi-owns

9jatriot:
I am shocked that even a self-acclaimed researcher like Reno also falls for this age-old scam of Lamba king.

Peter Obi has never publicly claimed ownership of Fidelity Bank, yet he allows this falsehood to persist, because its serves it purpose—likely to create the illusion of a legitimate source for his wealth and deflect attention from questions about how he actually amassed his fortune, other than from his political career.

Before contesting for a position in 2003, Peter Obi or his family was little known either in business cycles or among political juggernaut. The respected people at that time in the banking section included but not limited to Cecilia Ibru, Jim Ovia, and Fola Adeola, to mention just a few. Nobody knew Obi, even the Fidelity bank itself was not even considered a major bank at that time. If anybody knew Obi at that time, it would be his fellow employees at Fidelity Bank or its board members.

Fidelity Bank is a publicly traded company, meaning its ownership is distributed among shareholders who hold its stock. Obi’s only documented connection to Fidelity Bank is his brief tenure on its board in the early-2000s, followed by a roughly one-year stint as CEO. After that, he left to pursue what many believe was an easier path to wealth: politics. He went on to run for governor of Anambra State.

Beyond this, there’s no evidence to suggest Obi’s involvement in Fidelity Bank has made him extraordinarily wealthy. Ask his supporters about the source of his wealth, and their answers are inconsistent. Some claim he ran a family business while in university, but when pressed for details, most can’t name it. The few who do mention Next Foods fail to recognize a critical inconsistency: Next Foods was founded in 2006 (as can be verified here) (https://www.linkedin.com/company/nextfoodsinc),. How could it have been his family business during his university years if the business was opened in 2006, long after he had left school and just when he was governor of Anambra?

While Obi may hold shares in Fidelity Bank, being a shareholder doesn’t preclude him from owning shares in other banks like GTBank or First Bank. Available records show that Fidelity Bank’s major shareholders are institutional investors. The only individual verifiably linked as an owner is Ernest Ebi, with Mustafa Chike-Obi serving as the outgoing chairman—not Peter Obi.

For the record, Obi’s so-called Next Foods has little to no operational footprint in Nigeria. The UK branch shut down in 2019 due to tax evasion. His refusal to pay taxes—even in Nigeria—isn’t rooted in concerns about corruption but rather a lack of responsibility. He seems to believe tax obligations are optional, wherever he is. He was once invited to submit his tax records to the authorities here in Nigeria.

As part of his efforts to evade taxes, Obi reportedly established an offshore shell company, Gabriella Investments, allegedly named after his then-two-year-old daughter. After the Pandora Papers exposed this company as a vehicle for hiding assets, he is said to have rebranded it as PMGG Investment Limited. The opening of the offhsore account coincided with his tenure as Anambra State governor.

The long and short of this is that Peter Obi does not own Fidelity bank even though he is happy to be associated with the bank and the bank itself also benefits from the PR that he is a face of the bank. Other than that, Obi is just another shareholder in the bank just like millions of others.

Very lame and desperate position.

Yes sometimes bank transactions fail, but it can never bas a bad as 20 percent of the transactions..

Nigeria recorded less than 20 percent voter participation in 2023.

If our electronic voting can function as well as Peter Obi's bank, we would still have an 80 percent success rate.

He didn't even answer that question, he danced around it. Seun asked him a yes or no question if he sends money to his relatives in the village. Such a dishonest fellow. I listened to that interview knowing my brain cells would be dried up so I laughed all through his embarrassing responses.
