Arewa Group Condemns Unprovoked Attacks On NSA, Ribadu by ogugwa1992(op): 3:55pm On Feb 12
The Arewa Development and Advocacy Network (ADAN), a civil society organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development, justice, empowerment, and good governance across Northern Nigeria, strongly condemns the recent unprovoked and baseless attacks on the person and office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

It has become increasingly evident that Mallam Ribadu has emerged as a target for some Northern politicians desperate to remain relevant in the political space. These individuals appear to be orchestrating campaigns of calumny and distraction against him, falsely attributing personal and political motives to his commitment to national security.

In a country grappling with one of its most severe security crises, including rampant banditry, kidnapping, and senseless killings, such distractions are not only unwarranted but dangerous. Nigeria cannot afford any diversion from the critical task of safeguarding lives and property, particularly in the North, where our people bear the heaviest burden of insecurity.

We categorically reject and condemn the mischievous attempts by some to link Mallam Ribadu to the inclusion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s name in the proposed U.S. Congress bill (the Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act of 2026), which recommends targeted sanctions including visa bans.

These claims are nothing but a figment of the imagination of those seeking to sow division. The appearance of Senator Kwankwaso’s name in that legislative proposal has absolutely no connection to Mallam Ribadu or his duties as NSA.

Similarly, the ongoing political travails between former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and his successor, Governor Uba Sani, are entirely personal and stem from their own internal dynamics and fallout. These matters have no bearing on Mallam Ribadu’s role or actions, and any attempt to drag the NSA into them is disingenuous and self-serving.

ADAN emphatically frowns upon the pervasive “pull him down” syndrome that has unfortunately come to characterize much of contemporary Northern politicking. This destructive culture of envy, unfounded accusations, and character assassination undermines collective progress and diverts energy from the real priorities facing our region and nation.

We call for restraint from all political actors. Northern leaders and stakeholders must refocus their efforts on what truly matters: ending the scourge of banditry, kidnapping, and senseless killings that continue to ravage Northern communities; addressing the endemic poverty resulting from decades of malgovernance; and supporting initiatives that uplift our people through education, economic empowerment, and inclusive development.

In conclusion, the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains firmly on course and very much alive. This administration is not only resolutely committed to securing every inch of Nigeria but is also working tirelessly to make the country work for all citizens, through economic reforms, infrastructure development, and strengthened institutions.

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu’s focus is squarely on securing Nigeria, not on pursuing any political ambition or targeting fellow Northerners. We stand firmly with him and the administration in this noble pursuit.

ADAN urges all well-meaning Nigerians, especially in the North, to rally behind efforts to build a safer, more prosperous region and nation, free from needless distractions and petty rivalries.

Signed:

Dr. Ahmadu Mustapha, Convener
Arewa Development and Advocacy Network (ADAN)

Sponsored PR. Ribadu has no single grassroots support on the ground nor influence beyond his current position. Attempting to use federal might to take out future perceived opponents will still not win him Northern support. That's not the way of the North.

Ribadu has always been paperweight. Do you know what it means to always lose primaries in your state without having a chance to contest in a real governorship election. The last one got me shaking my head when he lost to Binani.

I don't think he will run for the governorship again and it is sure that he will not succeed Tinubu either in 2027 or 2031. The current VP is for the same senatorial district with him. Tinubu's successor will either come from the North West or North Central in 2031 because there is nothing much to prove that the opposition is ready.

Tinubu rules out alliance with CPC

Prospect of a possible alliance between the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, was dashed yesterday in Kano as the leader of the party and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu described CPC as parading “expired leadership.”

Tinubu told ACN supporters in Kano during the party’s Presidential rally that: “What Nigerians need now is a transformation in leadership” as obtained in the advanced economy.

The two-term Governor of Lagos State explained that the leadership of ACN was offering Nigeria the brilliance of Nuhu Ribadu who, he said, is in the class of Nicolas Sarkozi of France, David Cameron of Britain, Medvedev of Russia and Barack Obama of the United States of America.

“What has CPC got to offer? We certainly don’t need expired leadership as we are offering the best in terms of brilliance, courage and patriotism in the class of Sarkozi of France, David Cameron of Britain and Barack Obama of the USA.”

Tinubu’s position came on the heels of Ribadu’s declaration penultimate week in Kaduna when he hinted during a political rally of a joint ticket between the two opposition parties to confront the dominance of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The national leader of ACN criticised President Goodluck Jonathan for shying away from the national debate held last Friday, stressing that”that singular act exposed Jonathan as a coward who has nothing to offer.”

So someone like El-Rufai, who you consider responsible for killings, should be set free just because he’s now in the opposition, and yet you’re blaming Tinubu for insecurity? In mjkate news remember many of us urged Tinubu to take firm action to free Nigeria from the grip of jihadist threats. Now that he’s taking action, you’re calling it a political move. Please, if you’re confused, leave this platform peacefully.

Ribadu wasted $9 million proceeds from crude oil in lobbying/bribing people outside Nigeria to downplay Christian genocide in Nigeria. Ribadu fits better than anyone else in the definition of terrorist sympathizer.

Since the "Xmas Day Package" was presented by DT to Sokoto - the Seat of the Caliphate, on December 25, 2025, most of the terrorists sponsors and sympathizers have not really forgiven Tinubu and, particularly, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, their Northern brother.

But, whatever it takes to restore sanity must be pursued to its logical conclusion, come what may.

Very soon, the long arm of the law would catch up with both the sponsors and the sympathizers, inshallah.

Nigeria needs peace!

You people will betray him when the time comes. By this time in 2023, it was Elrufai you were tipping to rule Nigeria after Tinubu. You all have been unravelled. What about Shettima? Is he no longer the chosen one?

Let him face the security issues entrusted to him n leave northern politicians alone.

If only you know the intrigues that led to the breakdown of Tinubu/El Rufai relationship, it wasn't Asiwaju's alleged betrayer, but the influence of sone Northerners who saw Malam as a future threats to their aspirations.
There are 3 or 4 factors that can stop Ribadu in 2031:
1. The very unlikelihood of President Tinubu failing to win in 2027;
2. Atiku agreeing to work for Asiwaju in 2027 with the agreement of succeeding in 2031;
3. International pressures and interests; and
4. Above sll God Almighty.

Lol. When the time is nigh and Tinubu has betrayed Ribadu, you will be here to tell us it was influence of some Northerners or international pressures that denied Ribadu the chance. Thankfully, we will never find out. But assuming you are right, would Tinubu force the North to vote Ribadu? Would the Southwest have voted Osinbajo if Buhari foisted him on APC?

He should pray there shouldn't be an Obi on the ballot. Against obi, he struggled in the NC even with his inflated figures. In that case, where would he gain what he'd lose in the Muslim north when the south would be split down the middle? Also remember, without votes from the Muslim north he wouldn't be president today.
