Nigerians are experiencing a significant drop in electricity nationwide, which is expected to last for three days, from February 12 to 15, 2026.
This comes as Seplat, a joint venture with Nigerian National Petroleum Company Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), commenced a scheduled routine maintenance exercise on its gas production facilities from February 12 to February 15, 2026.

The exercise affected electricity supply from the country’s national grid.

Reacting to the development, the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) said the maintenance has negatively impacted power stations to be affected, including Egbin, Azura, Sapele, and Transcorp Power Plants, as well as NDPHC Sapele, Olorunsogo, and Omotosho Power Plants.

“Full gas supply is expected to be restored on 16 February 2026,” NISO stated.

Already electricity distribution companies have noticed Nigerians’ drop in electricity supply.

Enugu Electricity Distribution Company in a notice on Thursday informed electricity customers within Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi states of load management.

“Consequently, customers served by the subsidiary companies of EEDC

(MainPower, FirstPower, and Eastland) in Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi States, respectively, are affected by this development,” EEDC said in a notice by its spokesperson, Emeka Ezeh.
