Tinubu sold him out and then went to bed with Pdp. His candidacy was only used as a bargain tool, and it's little wonder he could only win osun state in that 2011 election. The problem with Ribadu is that he lacks charisma and is uninspiring. He isn't a politician on his own merit.

I don't think he will run for the governorship again and it is sure that he will not succeed Tinubu either in 2027 or 2031. The current VP is for the same senatorial district with him. Tinubu's successor will either come from the North West or North Central in 2031 because there is nothing much to prove that the opposition is ready.

I actually think his eyes are primed on succeeding Tinubu, but the odds are actually stacked against him.

If Ribadu becomes the flag bearer of APC, with the backing of an incumbent Government, walahi, he will win. To your 2nd question, if PMB had supported PYO, he would have been voted for in the SouthWest, because they wouldn't have had a better choice in another political party with a wider or equal coverage.

Believe it or not, Tinubu only got 5.6m Northern votes because Elrufai kept singing on the need for Northerners to keep their word and return the favour, despite sceptism from some Northerners on the untrustworthy nature of Tinubu. Tinubu betraying Elrufai simply proved all sceptics right. It was an own goal and this is not even just because of the figure, Elrufai. It's the symbolism of the treachery. It is also the major reason why Kwankwaso didn't end up decamping to APC. Trust deficit and fear of betrayal.

If Buhari had foisted Osinbajo on the APC, Tinubu would have decamped to SDP and the entire SW would have moved along with him. You know it. Obi was able to “win” in the South, especially the South East and parts of the South South, largely because of certain non-political sentimental patterns. Unfortunately for him, many of those factors have waned drastically. The only one still strongly persisting is the sentimental call for an Igbo presidency.
The youth appeal has reduced to near zero, while the religious bloc has largely been erased because the Muslim/Muslim ticket they revolted against has turned out to be merely a political exploration, rather than a religious arrangement. Also the claims that Obi was decent or incorruptible were effectively buried the day he joined Atiku, Amaechi, Aregbesola, and David Mark in the ADC.
The North also did not vote for Tinubu because they loved him or because they wanted to honour any so-called unwritten agreement, but because they were playing politics. I don’t need to go into details.
