Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has signed the Senior Citizens Bill into law. The legislation grants Abia indigenes aged 60 and above a free monthly stipend, free medical care, and other benefits for the rest of their lives.

This is the first of its kind.
Very commendable

This is a noble and wonderful policy

I will suggest that the age be moved further to 70 years because at 60 people are still active and productive and can take care of themselves.
Starting it from 70yrs will ensure that beneficiaries will be mostly retired people, the numbers will reduce and It will also be easier to implement because the numbers of beneficiaries will be more manageable and affordable to the government

What Gov. Alex Otti is doing is exactly what Nigerians missed in Peter Obi.

God bless you Sir Alex for having a heart for the people

I'd like to see the budget for this, and hope it is sustainable without a tax increase on Abians.

This should be adopted nationwide. Nigeria can afford to do this, but the problem is that greedy politicians won't do it. Well done, Mr. Otti.
