Racoon:On merit Igbos are the best. One thing I find funny is that those on quota system occupy the best jobs. |

This name was a common name in my family then. It's unfortunate my mum is late I can't ask her to remind me of his relationship with our family. But seeing his wife's village I think there goes the relationship. |

Racoon:Aren't you ever tired of this illogical and discredited trope that reality discredits and simple logic debunks? Every single one of you, from the days of your forefathers like Azikiwe etal, will always argue Igbo have this special ability making them superior to others. Yet do you know anywhere in the world the 'special' nature of a people fails to manifest itself in how they live? If Igbos are truly specially talented folks, this would be reflected in the living reality of the SE that would be ahead of others by far. Alas, this is not the case and all we hear from you lot, decade in and decades out, are claims we are waiting to become manifest in the reality of your socio-economic life in the SE region. |

Christistruth03:Be ni o!!! In fact, the first choise of the departing GOC , william Everade was Ademulegun followed by Ogundipe. Actually, Ironsi was only supposed to be in that post for One year hence why,Ademulegun was high on the coupists' list yo be unalived. |

Mrexcell:lol. I have all the proof you will ever need. i am his lastborn. Thars my dad. Ozi Jidezii. It pains me that a great injustice has been done to this man. Only i am not so tech savvy or constant in Nland. It was a friend who drew my attention to the post |

sfx9ja:You don't mean it great to have you here, looking at what the igbos are currently going through in nigeria it's expected that they will always try to wipe off his legacies it's now left for u the children to fight to make sure that never happens. |

Racoon:Why wouldn't ibos have a say then? Were they not educated? So the colonial masters were still around when this man was commandant? You Just have to go ahead and tribalize everything. |

chuose:No, ibos were not and are not. Most of the favours they got after independence were so because they were allies of the north |

chuose:That is a big lie both Ironsi and Ademulegun became Brigadier General's on the same day. The General called the Sudanese Tiger fought in the 1948 Isreali Arab War and was commented by Isreal for his great performance. The Sudanese Tiger was a black General. Stop lying Ironsi didn’t get to the Top on Merit It was Azikiwe that did everything to pull down Wellington Bassey's career out of Nepotism Wellington Bassey was Ironsi's senior in the Officer Corps Wasn't Ademulegun latter killed? |

Mrexcell:Thanks bro. But i can tell you first hand that there seems to be an agenda to obscure the records of great ibo men. We the children are trying our best to make sure that his legacies are preserved. The system may fight that and try to take that away from us But they can never take away what he impacted on us the kids and society at large. Thanks once again hombre. |

Christistruth03:Talking trash as always. Wellington Bassey this and Wellington Bassey that. You've been challenged to provide a SINGLE RECORD of award or achievement tied to the name of Wellington Bassey but you failed miserably. Among the first three top officers who once shared the same rank as at 1960 Independence year, Ironsi was with the most achievements (awards) and postings on special duties. He was once an ADC to Queen Elizabeth and led major military assignments both local and international (UN) to cement his name above the rest among N1, N2 and N3. You guys have deliberately been trying to erase the achievements of Igbo professionals in the history of Nigeria and even Igbo as an ethnic group with the recent quack history book published by two Yorubas and one Itsekiri author clearly omitting the great Igbo people. What you guys are looking for, you'll eventually get it from us. |

Fejoku:Did your own Azikiwe lie? According to Azikiwe , 6 Senior Officers from the East were skipped over in order to make Ojukwu the Governor of the Eastern Region Wellington Bassey Of Calabar was again the most Senior among them, he was about 10 years Ojukwus Senior Officer and about 20 years Ojukwus Senior in the Army Bassey and Ogundipe had both fought the 2nd world War, but Ogundipe had left after the War and re-enlisted to the Army 3 years later Apart from fighting in WW2 and commanding the independence day parade Wellington Bassey had Served as ADC to the Queen of England when she visited Nigeria in 1956 The Queen of England awarded Wellington Bassey an MBE for his Military Service |

Christistruth03:Why are you always shifting your bigoted goalpost? Stick to a particular point and let's trash it exactly before moving to another one. Here are the three arguments you're peddling and mixing up to promote your bigotry. Choose one and let's bring out our proofs to prove who is correct. 1. Ironsi making Ojukwu the military governor of the Eastern region when. Your argument is that it showed Ironsi and the entire Igbos as tribalistic people. 2. Ironsi's emergence as the GOC of the Nigerian Army in 1965 instead of Wellington Bassey was the handwork of Nnamdi Azikiwe. Your argument is that Azikiwe single handedly made Ironsi head of the Army because he was a tribalist and ensured Wellington Bassey, his 'senior' was chosen. 3. Wellington Bassey was a better soldier and more decorated than Ironsi. Your argument us that he deserved to be the first GOC of the Nigerian Army because he merited it but was denied it by Nnamdi Azikiwe and his bigoted Igbo people. I challenge you to choose one of these points and bring your proofs while I bring my proofs to affirm my stand that fairness was exercised in all the outcomes of those historical events. For a start, a challenge you to mention just one military operation or mission that Wellington Bassey led in the history of the Nigerian Army. ENSURE TO PROVIDE A VERIFIABLE PROOF ON IT. |
