Legends Who Could've Been The Big 3 Beyond Wizkid, Davido, And Burna Boy by KiNg0G(op): 10:21am On Feb 13
Hey amigos...have you ever thought if there wasn't WizKid DAVIDO and burna boy would there have been an entirely different big 3s. In fact say less, I am here to tell you that there were musicians with much more promise way back then that could have been the discussion of the big 3 today in the entertainment industry if only they had pushed farther, be consistent.. take note, keyword "COULD"

But as the saying goes nearly can't kill a bird, hardwork beat talents, all these are words when put into consideration you'd realise it's just the reality of life. Without time wasted I am here to drop 4 names, and the reason why they couldn't attain the higher level... the big 3 as at today. A self named title by Nigerian fans.

PSQUARE

"The duo are legends, they are not supposed to be on the list. They achieved all, what's this guy saying, blah blah blah....." my bro sit your black ....... down and let me talk, I got the mic, your work is to listen and learn.

sorry boss apologies.... please go on cheesy

Accepted!

I still tell my home boys till today, the splitting of PSQUARE systematically opened the way for the big 3 discussion in Nigeria. They were the biggest, touring whole of Africa, Europe, their stage performance was so elite..even when WizKid was making raves, PSQUARE was still number one holding that spot 2013, 2014, 2015... if only they had held on a little while longer and not let financial disagreement come between them they would still have been number 1 in the game. All they need do is release one or two hit every year with some features and viola they would have still been the biggest no cap. Because so much banging hit songs, king of party jams and you dare tell me if the duo were still together and didn't have any issues at all someone would just come 2026 to list big 3 and PSQUARE isn't among.. your joking fam!. It's just like saying if Michael Jackson was still alive they would mention others and leave him out.

OLAMIDE

The one mistake a man can have or can deem a man light faster is been compared to your predecessor and once you accept it, no matter what you do, you'd always been seen like a lower version of the person before you. That's the case of OLAMIDE when he arose being compared to dagrin on every rap song he dropped...bro himself didn't like it, he had to diversify, and switched gear to full time singing
"She carry front, she carry back, she too package, I can't leave her.. that's one of the reasons I can't leave her, nothing in this word that I can't give her.
I'm loving you eh
I'm loving you eh"

If only OLAMIDE had maintained this vibes and brought much more party hit songs like this, year in, year out...I kid you not Davido got nothing on him. Or is it SHAKITI BOBO all is songs at that time was explicitly good, melodious with the Fuji tone but it only came once in a blue moon..he wasn't really consistent enough. It's just like the drive to compete for number one with others wasn't really there.

RUNTOWN

In every disagreement, dispute you find yourself with family, friends or business partners if you can settle out of court please do. Only few people would understand, it saved WizKid career and now he is what he is today and eme can't take that from him. Daddy yo was supposed to drop some other album but he said he wanted to leave, due to his personal reasons.. but contract is contract.. you signed it. The label came said, you want to leave we agree but here is our terms. What your supposed to get from your previous albums we take it to make up for the one you didn't drop...oya na.. hands were shaked, problem solved.. everyone pathed ways..now tell me where WizKid is today.
Why couldn't RUNTOWN do a similar thing with Eric Manny, or did he tried and they refused or was he the one that insisted on going to court. It baffles me till today, because sound God was so good, so different with his sound, style, voice and everything and artist should have. He would have been in the big 3 discussion if only that issue with his label didn't arise. 2016, 2017 he had the whole year locked down from DJ mix to club..mad over you.. for life, energy and lots more. Runtown was on another level but just couldn't avert the hurdle when it came.

ICE PRINCE

The fall of ice prince needs to be studied, included in our school curriculum or something. You see if you thought I was wrong with the others you see this ice prince I will go far and length with you to tell you how good this guy was and if he had remained he definitely would have been... Is it SWAG? IS IT FASHION SENSE? IS IT FAME? Is it INFLUENCE ? bro had them all. He singled handedly made Nigerians fell in love with rap music, new school hiphops not Mi but him. But all I saw was bad management, bad advisers telling him to change genres from what blew him to singing trash.. because to them rap music don't sell in Nigeria like come on bro, you had it all.. with your hot bars, Oleku still banging hard whenever it comes on. Juju still hitting hard and he just gave it all to start singing party jams because that's what sells. It worked for sometime but couldn't for long.. if only he had held on to that ice prince zamani nobody test me.. the big 3 today would have been an entirely different conversation.

Artists that had more promise and could have gotten bigger...

I don't think psquare should be on the list. They were already at their peak and the game had changed or was changing at the time. They still had a year or two left at the peak but they finished their promise at that time and couldn't have gotten bigger.

If Michael Jackson was alive today and released a track he would never surpass his old records. He couldn't possibly get bigger because the game changed a long time ago.

Olamide too I also disagree. They is just a limit you can't push over no matter how hard you try. He took could have remained in the game for longer...he is still in the game though but nothing more promising about that. They is nothing unexpected he could have achieved.

Ice prince yes I agree with you. He left too suddenly when fans were expecting much more from him. Promising yes even though I wasn't a fan of his from his first single/album.

I'd add tekno to the list. He took had promise and could have gotten bigger but his career was cut short by the problem he had with his voice.

Some one mentioned kizz Daniel and I agree to an extent. He doesn't push his music and seems comfortable where he is. He is in his comfort zone and doesn't look like he wants to get bigger!

Jesus!

The fact that with all the great sensible artists with wonderful lyrics in Nigeria, these are your big 3 is something worrisome on it's own.

Psquare was in the big-3 in the times of the 2000s.

WizKid, O.b.o, burna are the ones that took over from the 2face, dbanj, psquare.

Now its rema, asake, ruger.

Which no wizkid etc, it could have been tekno, kiss Daniel and.....

Re: Legends Who Could've Been The Big 3 Beyond Wizkid, Davido, And Burna Boy by ObaKlaz:
There was literally the Big 3 back then, and P Square was in that bracket:
2Face
P Sqaure
D'banj.
(In no particular order)

They focused on music, their craft, winning, and not beefing. They dominated the scene for over a decade. Plus, they were always thinking of how to make Afrobeats international (this showed in their strategic collaborations and who they rolled with. This paved the way for the 'New Cats').
They had the consistency and stronger work rate, which are ingredients these other 'could-have-beens' didn't have.

Even Davido had to acknowledge the Big 3 that was there before the New Generation Big 3, in one of his songs - ''All of You"

"2baba you be baba nau!
P Square you be baba nau!!
Koko Master, you be baba nau!!!"

If there's any new generation artiste who could have joined the New Generation Big 3, and made it Big 4' based on consistency and work rate, it's Kizz Daniel, but looks he isn't really thinking about dominating, or breaking forth beyond Nigeria/Africa (name 3 big name global stars - asides Angelique Kidjoe, that he has collaborated with, if you want to argue!) and obviously, some other powers in the industry don't really like him, or he pissed them off behind the scenes.

The O.P doesn't know what he even posted.

Nigeria music has so much deteriorated. No more story telling in music.

Can burna boy, whisked or davido write songs like, "for instance, one love by tuface", "oga police by Pquare" and a lot more.

These three top singers are all dancehall song they sing.
Re: Legends Who Could've Been The Big 3 Beyond Wizkid, Davido, And Burna Boy by Ibadanfarmroad: 12:04pm On Feb 13
This op don ment, psquare, 2face and dbanj were the big three of their era. Biz wiz, Davido and olamide replaced them, till burna boy came and replaced olamide now asake has come to replace davido.

Putting Psquiare in this class I feel it is not right .
Psquare doesn't belong to burna boy , davido, wizkid class.
If u talk about Tecno, kizz Daniel, Asake and the rest then we can start the comparison
