There are actually a lot of unemployable graduates in Nigeria. People who school literally passed through them. Being a graduate is not as relevant as the skill or actual knowledge you possess. How many so-called graduates can defend their certificates when push comes to shove?

Oga, it’s not always about defending your certificate. I know many people who can’t even properly explain what they studied, yet they work in big companies and government offices—simply because they have connections. Meanwhile, some highly educated people who can confidently defend their results are still struggling on the streets. And even when some of them eventually get jobs, they end up earning peanuts.

I believe one of the major causes of rising unemployment among graduates is the wrong orientation given by some parents and guardians. Instead of preparing their children for the realities of life by encouraging them to learn practical skills or start a business, they focus only on sending them to school. There is often no clear plan for what happens after graduation. The main goal becomes just getting a degree, without thinking about how it will translate into real opportunities.

Some one told Me he was a graduate of electronics engineering either Ond or Hnd or bsc but could not tell Me what resistance was ( A secondary school physics question)

Another told.me he was a graduate of automobile engineering Ond but could not tell Me what velocity was ( A secondary school physics question)

Many people claim to be graduates but cannot answer very basic questions about what they studied.
Many of the best brains have relocated or are occupied

It’s not about being ignorant. You made it sound like they’re supposed to be robots — you ask a question and they give exact answers instantly. People forget things sometimes. Some of those questions are topics they learned a long time ago, maybe even from a lazy lecturer who didn’t teach them properly. We’re all bound to forget things. Some people can’t even remember what they ate last Saturday morning, let alone something they were taught months or years ago. So it’s not fair to judge them based on that.

You guys should stop this!
If this guy opened a very big ice cream supermarket and you see him with a car, you guys wont be seeing it like this.

Because he is not making millions of naira or dollar from this troller of ice cream now, in your minds you will say it is
village people or something else. Look at big graduates that open fashion houses, or shoe factory, shawarma joints where one person have over 30 branches etc. So maybe he should think outside the box and make his ice cream outstanding. School is a means to an end and not the end.

Sometimes you people open your mouth and talk nonsense. Where in my write did I say the government is supposed to give him job? However, the stewwpid government you are so eager to defend failed all these folks. The economy is shrinking due to horrible policies. Companies are leaving the country in drove because they are no longer profitable as a result of the high cost of operating businesses in Nigeria. Overwhelming insecurity, scarcity of foreign exchange, high exchange rate, poor power supply that would have driven small are medium scale enterprises has crippled this country and you open you mouth to spill nonsense?
Nigeria has more resources and wealth than Sweden, yet every year Nigerian youths are running to Sweden for a better life because of great leadership over there. So in your warped reasoning, a country where a high percentage of well trained corp of citizens resort to doing menial jobs, all is well there shebi?
