“Marriage My Cousin Spent Over ₦60m On Has Crashed” Man Reveals by alphonsoolajide(op): 9:08am On Feb 11
A Nigerian man has sparked intense reactions on social media after revealing that his cousin’s marriage, which allegedly cost over ₦60 million, has collapsed barely a year after the wedding.

The claim was shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where the man narrated what he described as a shocking turn of events surrounding the lavish union. The post has since gone viral, igniting debates around marriage expectations, domestic violence allegations, and the risks involved in cross-border relationships. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In his post, the man wrote:

“Marriage when my cousin spend more than 60 million last year April don scatter.”

He further alleged that the situation became complicated following accusations of domestic abuse.

“Apparently, the girl even scratched herself with stuff and reported to the police that he abused her,” he claimed.

The allegations, however, remain unverified, and no official statements have been issued by the individuals involved or relevant authorities.

According to the post, the situation allegedly escalated in the United States, where the cousin was said to be working as a nurse anesthetist.

“My cousin who is a nurse anesthetist, making over $300k, has been fired for domestic violence and is now driving Uber in Florida,” the man added.

The claim has raised questions online, with many users noting that such serious allegations often involve complex legal processes and multiple sides to the story.

The revelation has generated mixed reactions, with some users expressing sympathy for the man’s cousin, while others urged caution, stressing the need to hear all sides before drawing conclusions.

Others used the incident to highlight broader discussions about marriage pressure, the belief that expensive weddings guarantee stability, and the legal realities of relationships abroad.

As of the time of this report, the claims remain allegations, and further details surrounding the incident have not been independently confirmed.

The government should make a law, any marriage which there Aso Ebi cost above N20k, if it crashed in less than 2 years, they should refund the money for the Aso Ebi for those who bought it.

So I came to the country, spent some months with my friend before moving to my own place, another town.

After like 2 months, he came to visit, not only him but with his cousins. I got enough space

2 months after they left, he sent me a message he would be getting married, initially, I thought he was joking until he sent invitation letter, hahah, abeg who be the girl , no be somebody I sabi or heard of, a friend of almost a decade as at then.

It didn't take me less than one week before I Japa because I didn't want to be part of that marriage. You can't call me a friend and be getting married to someone I don't know, don't have idea about the plans until the Invitation letters was out.

The amount of money the guy spent for the marriage on someone he met less than 3 months but because of pregnancy, he must do lavish wedding just to impress/oppress/intimidate others.

The said wedding struggle to last for 3 years. Na just on one Sunday morning, my friend went to church, before he came back, the lady don pack all her things comot for house. That was the end.

They are getting married to people they don't really know, still make noise about the wedding and when it crashed, shame and disgrace go dey follow them

That is what happens when you use money to impress a girl. By the way, I didn't know nurse anaesthetist earn that much. I heard they are the highest paid among nursing professionals.

No wonder people are leaving their jobs and taking up nursing as a profession. But as for me, I can't do the job of a nurse even if they earn a million dollars.

After marrying with such amount, how much are you using to sustain it.

After showing someone who has not seen cool 1m such monetary level, later you will revert to 'please manage this'

Men, please learn to always live according to your level at all times so that anyone coming to you will easily understand and take you as you are.

Though some women understand.
It's worst with those primitive ones.

Anybody going into marriage must prepare his or her mind to forgive his or her partner over and over again! It is actually in marriage that the number of times we should forgive our offenders as written in the Bible comes into practice. This is why I'm marrying the girl I genuinely love because forgiving her shortcomings will be very easy for me because of how deeply I desire her.

Evidently the most expensive weddings crash the most. The man is buying love which the woman finds too comfortable and stray. If billionaires like Dangote, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates can divorce; pointdexters better save their money and pray that they find true love.

How much of the N60 million came from the Lady’s pocket?

You would find out that the answer is Zero Naira.

Ladies find it extremely difficult to forsake their investment, they would make it work if they have invested.

Moral of the story: don’t ever think of being maritally involved with a lady that has invested nothing tongue

If government makes it compulsory just like how we have proof of funds before you travel out, they make it compulsory that a woman must have made over 10m naira or less depending and contributing 50% of her money for her marriage to a man, I think this devilish acts by women will stop immediately.

And you replace it with what? Baby mamas and deadbeat dads?

So because some students failed in a particular department, it means others aren't getting distinctions, hence the department should be scrapped?
