Tuchel better not he be sentimental about his starting xi and not include this unstoppable threat from any zone on the pitch.

pkasso:His brilliant attacking prowess is enough to make up for his defensive fragility. I can't even think of any worldclass fullback who was known for preventing goals rather than being an effective user of the ball. Cafu greatest highlight was when he was giving Nedved haircut, not when he was taking ball from an attacker. If you also match Marcelo's highlights, about 80% of it will be when he was giving Ronaldo an inch perfect cross, not when he was marking Messi. Even the very much maligned Gary Nevile was known for his banana cross, not when he assumed the role of a goalkeeper keeping the ball away. There's a reason why the traditional fullbacks require more energy on the pitch than any other position in football, and that's because they are needed in attack as much as they are needed at the back. So please let correct some of these misconceptions about fullbacks in this 2026. |

| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by pkasso(m): 4:44pm On Feb 15 |
popizaino:No, it's not enough. Trent needs a certain system to thrive and that is already asking too much. The question is, will Tuchel be willing to sacrifice his system for the comfort of one player, at the expense of others? For an elite attacker, that gamble might be worth taking but for someone like Trent, I don't think so. The best fullbacks in the game rn are good on both ends of the pitch. See Hakimi, James, Nuno Mendes, Cucurella. All able to offer attacking threat and shut down opposition wingers. You mention Marcelo, but you forget he was playing on one of the most-stacked teams in the history. World-class talent, everywhere you turn. CR7 alone na +1. Put that same Marcelo on an average team and watch him get torn to shreds. Heck, he couldn't even hit those heights on a decent Brazil team. Trent is not the only technically-gifted full back out there. There is Grimaldo at Bayer Leverkusen, for example. Baller. But no matter how many goals, assists and free kicks he scores, Spain will never play him ahead of Cucu. You think Di Marco would survive a season outside of Inter's 352? Heck, him nyash dey open when e jam correct wingers for the same formation. Trent wey reach Madrid dey chop bench for old man Carvajal but he should be starting for England ahead of a monster like James. Tell your guy to work on his defense, all those sexy penetration passes no dey deceive us. |

One day we will come here and correct the false narrative of Maresca being a big game manager. |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by pkasso(m): 5:59pm On Feb 15 |
popizaino:Popi, just let it go, man! You are beginning to sound like that pained ex. Maresca don move on. You need to, also. |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by popizaino(m): 6:47pm On Feb 15 |
pkasso:Trent doesn't need a system, but rather, the system needs Trent. Evidence is Liverpool while he was there, and now that he is not there. Salah poor output this season isn't down to old age or poor form, but due to Trent's absence to feed him with the necessary ball. So if Tuchel over look him for other fullbacks that are much inferior to him,he won't be the first blind English manager, others before him were equally blind when they preferred other popular names to Carrick to sit at the base of England's midfield so nothing surprising there. |

airmark:You skipped my question but now want me to answer yours? I asked about the factors that made Jurassic to lose form and you replied with a whole New Testament epistle sounding like Paul writing to the Thessalonians church about Chelsea fans, Caicedo and cukuruku matters. Please what’s my own with those people? |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Altern8tor: 7:00pm On Feb 15 |
Some coaches will just use Trent as RWB in a 343 formation,,that settles it pkasso: |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by popizaino(m): 7:25pm On Feb 15 |
pkasso:Maresca might have moved on but his mouthpiece haven't. I hate it when the board and players becomes the easy target to always blame for some of these average coaches's incompetency. They still believe he was let down by the board and should have been given billions to sign a CB. I have eyes to see the errors in your tactical decisions on the pitch so no dey come tell me say eja ko lo wa ninu sardine. I called Maresca out severally but they us we never had a tactical problem but blueco and players were to be blamed for our results. As how now? Do you know how i would have been a subject of ridicule if Rosenoir wasn't getting us to play well and getting the desired results? Don't worry i won't give up on this campaign of Maresca being a fraud till he goes on to finish them with another club. |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by pkasso(m): 8:08pm On Feb 15 |
popizaino:Lmao. You mean Trent leaving is the singular reason for Liverpool's poor form this season? OK. Trent is yet to play RB at any major tournament for England since breaking out but you want Tuchel to start him at the next one. Pesin wey dem manage play for CM at the last Euros, e still flop. Nothing concern Carrick with Trent. There are two different scenarios. Make Trent dey jonze. Very soon, small boys like Livramento go dey ahead of am for NT. |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by pkasso(m): 8:50pm On Feb 15 |
Altern8tor:Trent at RWB is not the easy answer you think it is. For one, he is more of a half-space player than a width holder. Motoring up and down the flank isn't his thing and I don't think he has the athleticism for it. Wingbacks are also required to put in defensive work; covering ground and tracking runs. How many times have we seen Trent lose his man? I have seen him play the role a couple of times and I have not really been impressed. Just because he is a good attacking fullback doesn't necessarily mean he will make an excellent traditional wingback. There are nuances involved. |
