Osun 2026: PDP, LP Missing As Adeleke, Oyebamiji, Salaam Make INEC Candidates’ List

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has announced the names of candidates for the August 08 gubernatorial election in the state.

However, the People’s Democratic Party and the Labour Party have no candidates for the election.

The Commission on Sunday announced that 14 parties will be participating in the election slated for August 8, 2026.

A statement by Musa Olurode, Public Relations Officer of INEC in Osun, revealed that only 14 political parties uploaded details of their candidates after the conclusion of primaries.

“The political parties that validly uploaded the names and particulars of their candidates and their running mates as released by the Headquarters of the Commission, Abuja, are: A, AA, AAC, ADC, ADP, APGA, APC, APM, APP, BP, NNPP, PRP, YPP, and ZLP.”

“In accordance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 and as provided in item 4 of the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the Osun State Governorship Election, the Commission has published the personal particulars of candidates and that of their running mates (Form EC9). Copies of each candidate’s Form EC9, together with all accompanying academic credentials and other documents submitted, will be displayed at the INEC State Office and in all the thirty (30) Local Government Area Offices and the Area Office of the Commission in Osun State on Monday, 16th February, 2026.

“Political parties, candidates, and members of the public are hereby advised to inspect the published documents as provided by law.”

The Commission further clarifies that only the fourteen (14) political parties listed above, having met the constitutional and regulatory requirements within the prescribed period, will participate in the forthcoming Osun State Governorship Election

at least we can see PDP strength in the states in 2023. APC has 18 states, PDP has 15 states, Apga has 1 state why LP has 1 states and nnpp has 1 state too. PDP has much strength and structures in 2023. Both Wike and Seyi Makinde destro*yed PDP completely. PDP doesn't have any candidates in Ekiti and Osun State Governorship elections. In Osun State, the race is between APC and Accord Party, in Ekiti State, the race is between APC and ADC.
