Well, I think she was referring specifically to employees who earn salaries
Nigeria offers numerous opportunities because many needs are still unmet. Those who create businesses to solve these problems can thrive. By contrast, individuals who depend solely on salaries may find the landscape more restrictive.

She's right in a way....you can do agric and buy brand new cars, theoretically, but the probability of you getting kidnapped and murdered before you hit that target is quite high, like 80% upward

for any body less than 40, I don't think there is any blue or white colar job we're you will be able to buy a brand new car in one or two years with just your salary.
Like seriously?
Is the Oil & Gas industry also included in this your blanket conclusion?

FYI, I know someone who earns N230k /day as a contract staff in an Oil & Gas company.
This is not a story, I am talking of someone i know so closely.

Please punch your calculator again and tell me, no one can buy a brand new car with savings from just his salary.

Baba. People dey coll3xt better money for this country oh.
Na only me and you never start to do so.

Oil & Gas can do that too

They pay them as expatriates though, so it should be excluded

There are jobs in that pay well, the matter is entirely a skill issue, most people want jobs but they lack the skills. Imagine an civil engineer that does not know autocad or a software engineer that cannot implement a data structure.

the mere fact most people rather splurge their earnings on material items like car, tv. Instead of them to diversify their income they are thinking of purchasing a brand new car. I pity who will marry this one because you are engaging yourself with a liability instead of asset.
I agree 💯 with your assertions 👍.
First, she just likes the Social Media Outbursts to yan.
Second, she said ' there are no legal jobs " and how did she got that conclusion without being a falacy?
Thirdly, how she made a generalized statement, for there are any legal jobs in Banking, Accounting,Legal, Financial and even in Real Sector- Manufacturing where Nigerians earn good pays that is World Competitive.
Cars are liabilities but you can also makes it to earn income by using it to picking Passengers, thereby offsetting the Cost as it generate Streams Income ,e.g Use it for Uber,to get additional Income.
He Statements is fatally Wrong 👎

I see the point she's trying to make.

But this is a fallacy of hasty generalisation - "There is no legal job..." makes her theory absolute, rendering it false.

A mid trim 2025 Toyota Camry fresh from the factory can cost around 30K USD - roughly 40m...

To be pessimistic, call it 60m plus shipping.

There are white collar jobs that pay 6m net per month (excluding bonuses) - I know a C-suite guy earning this amount. And this guy has a boss who earns more...

There are people who have big bonuses after their multi million Naira salaries.

Professionals (like those in sales) can make unbelievable money from commissions per sale...and that can really rack up in volume depending on the type of deal brokered.

So, yes, a brand new car can be bought legally in Nigeria.

The only fact is, compared to the general population, the fraction of people who can purchase a brand new car is very small.

PS: Currently, I can't afford a brand new car. Because una no get manners here. Next thing, someone will come and say their father is claiming rich.
You don't even need to,pay in full , if you have a steady job with 5m per month your bank can finance mortgage for you .

To me, I think she's 99% right. Even the other 1%, I'm not sure.
So if someone is saving 1.5m monthly, after 2 years he or she should be able to afford 30m car or collect extra 10m bank loan to purchase tear nylon 40m car of model 2020

I think there is a level to this opinion. Some job earnings can actually enable you buy a brand new car in Nigeria. If you are an AGM , DGM, GM, ED, or MD of a big corporation like a Bank, you can actually afford a brand new vehicle. But an average salary earner can't

How about oil company and multinational executives and managerial staff? Current MTN CEO's annual salary is over ₦1billion, so that one won't be able to buy a brand new car or his job is not legit? Some people will just be coming online to broadcast their lack of exposure
How can you say something you're not 100% sure of with so much confidence? I'm not sure you've seen the man's paycheck other than what was posted on X by some so called influencers. Do you know this man for sure to confirm his annual salary is 1B? Because this is not some information that Google or chatGPT can give you. Make Una de take some certain social media information with a pinch of salt abeg

To even get a job is not easy, not to talk of buying a *brand new" car with salary.
It depends on the car?
There are jobs one can do and buy a brand new car. But you see all those’ brand new Mercedes , Toyota, Lexus SUVs? No civil service job can get someone that.

Oil and gas staff entry level hit close to N100m per annum. some managers and local consultants make over 200m per annum. Tech at some point was also competing with oil and gas but duuno what happening in recent years. oil services and some manufacturing companies earn average of 20m per annum...the rest of the companies/workers in naija earn an average of less than 10m per annum.
therefore, less than 0.1% (100k) of the working population can afford brand new car with their earning in less than 2yrs

Even as a civil engineer earning legally without inflating budget in Nigeria, you can't buy a tear rubber at 40M or 50M

Stop capping

Oga there is no job that pays you currently in naija that will enable you buy a brand new car, except stealing, politics etc, if you like read all the book in the world, grab all the skills, the capacity is not there to pay you simple. Go and check how much cardiologist, brain surgeons, medical directors are earning, heck how much is the salary of Mr president, even him cannot afford to buy a brand new car based on his salary! Ohh, OK unless you consider gac Korope which they recently offered a promo for 15m, even that tiny suzuki car they use for taxi in Lagos is 22m.
How much salary will you receive that will let you buy a corolla of Eg 60m, a camry for 100m or a land cruiser for 260m? Oga our purchasing power has been destroyed by Tinubu, we are a poor people by international standard, abi why do you think all the multinationals trading in Nigeria started leaving one by one, from the south Africans making spare ribbs in spur restaurant, to shoprite selling off, pharmaceutical companies closing their operations etc?
