This is what has prompted the average individual to seek employment with oil and gas servicing firms rather than tending to their farmlands. ![]() |

Codes151:What has he done wrong? How’s this scientific findings his fault? Even at that, does it in any way take away the oil wells unjustly ceded to Akwa Ibom by the Supreme Court in 2012? So, why the insult? Before Bakassi was ceded to Cameroon, there was no much controversy as to Cross River’s ownership of most of these oil wells. So, why are some of you so adamant on taking away everything from Cross River? It’s more annoying because technically, you guys don’t even really have oil in that state. If the internationally accepted 3 nautical miles rule is adopted, you guys won’t even be an oil producing state. |

COMRADES, will this latest development send shock waves to the people of Akwa Ibom State? I remember that year when the two states engaged in media war over boundary issues |

What's the point of listing Cross River as an oil-producing state? They should list the governor as the greatest beneficiary of this looming largesse. With tinubu on the saddle of maladministration, there will be no end to corruption. |

wiseone28:I did not know because I’m not the one that made the decision. Now that more compelling scientific evidence has shown that some oil wells in OML 114 actually falls within the accepted boundary of Cross River, I expect you all to be happy and not going about throwing insults. It’s a win win situation for everyone. |

Codes151:Calm down, bro. I would personally prefer the oil wells be shared equally among the two states. Akwa Ibom has been owning them ever since and the state is not an eldorado. So what's the point? |

ogugwa1992:The RMAFC Chairman is expecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's assent for implementation of Inter Agency Technical Committee (IATC). Upon presidential approval for implementation, the RMAFC Board of Commissioners will convene a plenary session to approve the operational framework for implementing the new attributions and updating Nigeria’s official list of oil-producing states. For Cross River, stakeholders say the development represents not merely administrative recognition, but “a restoration of economic justice, constitutional equity and historical truth.” |

wiseone28:Bakassi was NEVER part of Cross River State or Nigeria. In the Anglo-German treaty that was signed during the colonial times, Bakassi was clearly shown on the maps to be within German Cameroon. Even the Geography Atlas and history books we used decades back (1960s-1980s) show CLEARLY that Bakassi Peninsula is right in Cameroon. Definitely folks of Efik origins are or were indigenous to Bakassi but NOT as Nigerians BUT Cameroonians. So, it's impossible for Nigeria to cede to Cameroon what it NEVER had under international law. Period. |
