Prosperity based on years of work by a previous administration to secure cancelation/forgiveness of most of Nigeria's debt at that time, freeing up much needed funds. Then came the period of high oil price leading to more prosperity for Nigeria.

More instructively, by 2014 the same prosperous Nigeria was already borrowing money and could not even pay the salary of federal workers.
