In the space of two years, Nigeria’s state governments have witnessed one of the sharpest revenue expansions in recent history. The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) allocations surged on the back of fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange reforms and stronger oil receipts, pushing trillions of naira into subnational accounts.https://businessday.ng/life/article/despite-record-faac-windfalls-states-sink-deeper-into-debt-poverty-worsens/

Poverty Deepens Despite Fiscal Expansion According to the World Bank’s estimates, poverty levels climbed to 61 percent in 2025, about 139 million Nigerians living on less than $3 per day, up from 129 million in 2024. PwC projects that the poverty rate could reach 62 percent in 2026, affecting roughly 141 million people. This trajectory suggests that increased public revenues have not translated into broad-based welfare gains. |

Now this is the real reason governors are defecting up and down because of the FAAC windfall and the alleged financial incitement. Tinubu just pumping monies to governors with no probity or accountability. Meanwhile all these have no bearing upon the life of the downtrodden masses as poverty remains rife, human capital development zero, subsidies that will make life easy have all been eroded to feather the opulent lifestyles of these financial reckless governors while the miserable lives of the citizens continue. |

"Hold your governors - hold your governors" . . . Na the chant of APC's tilumbu agbadoid e-beings on nairaland Meanwhile one Naira out of the billions of money they are using to woo just one human being to their cult won't enter the pocket of the normal man on the streets We are still waiting to see the miraculous campaign points they will use to coax us to vote for them next year 😏 |

This shouldn't be news but should be expected as long as the FG continues to dash money to the States without accountability on how it is spent. Almost all involved ...the givers and receivers are focused on self enrichment ... and the present allocation without accountability system favours them so we should not be expecting any change in the increase in poverty levels or improvement in infrastructure and services. |

Your increase in FAC allocation is in náírà, and what iṣ the naira to dollar exchange rate now, What I can use 100k to buy in 2023 can I use same 100k to buy same is 2026? Naira to dollars rate in 2023 was ₦500 to a $1 Now it's ₦1500 to $1, So what is the value of your increase if FAC allocation in naira? You give a state 300 billion in 2023 and now u increased it to 900 billion and foreign exchange rate has increased by 300% in 2026, and u expect the increase in FAC to perform any magic Una mumu no get part two in Nigeria Una kuku dey sabi think in opposite direction in Nigeria |

He noted that human capital investments take years to yield results. “Human capital development (education and health) takes a decade to show results. Because governors operate on four-year cycles, they often lack the incentive to invest in reforms that will only benefit their successors.”Don't worry. We will soon have AI ROBOTS in administrative positions like governor and other sensitive postions. So all these useless wastrels will soon be out of business. That's the way the world is headed - remove human judgement in pivotal processes that impact on the masses. |

F117nighthawk:I've been shouting the same thing since, the increment in allocation was more of a necessity rather than luxury, Tinubu didn't do the governors any favour by increasing the allocation, that's what was needed to be done. I just don't know why his propagandists are throwing that to our faces as an achievement. |

I don't understand why Nigerians are complaining but Abia state people are celebrating like never before. Despite all the accusations of APC and their supporters against Alex Oti, but his people seems very happy with his performance unlike other governors before him. I think other states should borrow a leaf from Dr Alex Oti. 🙏🙏🙏 |
